Digital Cameras And Posting Pics

I have a few questions for you more tech saavy guys.

I am having trouble posting pics, reads file too big. I understand that but how do I get smaller files? I have 7 mega pixel sony dig. Is it the mega pixels that make the file so big or what? Would getting a different camera solve the problem?

I would love some advice.

I don't have a server or a web site now so that option is out.

Thanks in advance!

Just resize the pics on your computer and post them.

What size are the pics before you resize me?

Re: Digital Cameras And Posting Pics

The "problem" so to speak is likely the 7 meg camera - the higher the resolution of the picture, the larger the file. It sounds like a pretty good camera though - I wouldn't get another. Like Cole said, just use your picture management software and re-size the picture(s). Just save them as files and use the "manage attachments" button to post it.

Thanks Cole and Terry.

I resized it but it made the pic a little/lot fuzzy.
Posted it anyway.

Thanks again

Re: Digital Cameras And Posting Pics

In the menus of your camera you can choose smaller size image but I recommend against this unless it is STRICTLY for uploading on the web. My pictutes folder has about 29,600 images 99.9% shot at high resolution. You can always reduce the size of an image (inches or pixels across) and adjust the compression (JPEG) to compress more, but if you shoot it small and/or with higher compression it's impossible to make it as good as a high res pic.

Newl,

Thanks for the quick lesson. I didn't/don't know to much about that stuff.

Get something like Photoshop Elements and use the 'save for web' feature. It'll reduce the size with no quality loss (you should never lose quality when downsizing).
