Cutting Off The Bottom Of Bi-fold Doors..?

When you cut off 3/4" off the bottom of a Jeldwin hollow bi-fold door, the piece of "wood" that holds the pin in place is removed. What way do you all successfully re-attach that little booger?

Custom cut a replacement, gobs of Titebond II, clamp and proceed as usual. Done it plenty of times.

I did the same last year, just measure where you need your new hole for the pin on the new piece. Glue and clamp it

Personally, I'd use some duct tape and bailing wire, but, my customers aren't that picky either.

Glue and clamp, but if I need to hang the doors quicker I will shoot a couple brads in the peice to hold it til the glue dries. I wouldn't use the door til the glue dries but you can atleast put it back on.

That's the way to go.

I just came across a new construction adhesive (probably been on the market a million years) I think its called Quick Grab or something like that. It comes in a tube and is usually with the PL400 and such but its much thinner than the others. So that might be a good option. I tried it out I put a glop on a 2x4 about 1'long and stuck it to my basement wall (painted block) and walked away. Next day it hadn't moved a spec.

I was taught to remove the piece, cut the bottom of the door and then replace the piece and glue and clamp it.

How do you remove it when it glued in? I have cut it off them pealed the sides off the old piece and glued it back in.

Like I said, when u cut 3/4" off, it is already cut off. You just peel away the sides and proceed.
As for the rest of the answers, I figured as much, I just glued them and nailed them from the sides(aesthetics). Pretty much what you all are saying you do as well.

Re: Cutting Off The Bottom Of Bi-fold Doors..?

I just remove the veneer from the bottom plug, glue it back in, and shoot a few brads to stabilize it until It's dry. Then I take white phenoseal, and skim the bottom of the slab to clean, and seal it.
