Customer Filing A Claim Against My Bond Yet Hasnít Fired Me.

Let me begin by saying I wonít be sad to see 2017 leave. Every idiot since the beginning of time hired me. Perhaps Iím the idiot not recognizing they were idiots. :-) in any case, this last one tops them all: I have a customer who called today and said he is filing a claim against my bond. However I am still on the job and he wonít fire me. The work is fine however we have reached a standstill due to a crooked 203k Renovation loan (HUD) Inspector/consultant. The inspector wanted me to pay him $4000 under the table since he was recommended me to the job. I told him no. From that point on he started to make things difficult by undervaluing the work that was done so we wouldnít get reimbursed the amount we had put out thereby making it impossible to move the job along. I reported him to HUDís Office of Inspector General and they are now investigating him. I have already met with 2 special agents. In any case, the homeowner is aware, CSLB is aware, everybody is aware of what happened.
Despite all of that, the homeowner feels I have breached the contract by not finishing on schedule. I say heís nuts. Even if that stuff didnít happen, how can you make a claim on a bond if the contractor is still working for you?! Comments pleeeeeeeeze! :-)

Can you explain why a HUD inspector is involved? Is this HUD/Section 8 work on low income (welfare) buildings?

Tell the inspector that you give up and will pay him off. Make sure the authorities are there to watch the transaction.

No need to deal with corrupt inspectors.
