Crazy

to set this up....ive been replacing the decks/balconies on 2 30 unit condos where EVERY owner is retired. ok, so weve been there since last oct, 06, so we pretty much know all the active retiree's, and meet the less active while were rebuilding the balcony.

more setup but funnie. they have underground parking but some that live on the ground floor park in the back lot. its all parking on the building side, but theres penninsulas on the opposite side. we make a point to watch when someone starts backing out because 9 x's outta 10, they back into the wall. we watched this one little old ladie, god bless her, shes driving this early 60,s cherry bone stock mercades, and backs out and creams the wall.

we just look at each other for a few then watch as she drives away without ever getting out and looking.

on to the crazy part..the basement parking. theres 2' pillars spaced out thru the basement and most of the cars have that solid white mark/crease down the side. and all the utilities start there. the gas meters are on each far wall well protected with concrete post, but the electric meters are in the center, behind only 2x4 walls. theres 2 seperate banks, each one has 5 meters per case x's 3. (im no sparky, dont know the terms).

so this guy goes to back out and hits the gas instead of the brake and takes out the side wall which is next to the outter bank of meters and pushes it into the center one totally crushing the bottom three meters of both banks.

even more crazy is the electric co. man showed and didnt know where the service entered the building. we told him where it was(we didnt know what happened yet, except we lost power). we pointed the guy to one of the trustees and he tells her " a little harder and the building would have been on fire"....."you need to call a electrician."....and leaves.

the trustee lady comes out and gets us asking "can you do anything to help, were still waiting for the electrician". we go look and its just incredible the damage done and nothing fired up.

finally after 3 hrs, sparky showed, his hair is blown back, the main throw is stuck and it takes like 3 times for him to throw it. he repeats electric co. guy saying its lucky this place didnt catch fire.

so come to find out the electric boxes are old school, smaller than todays standard, so poor sparky has too repair what he can and hope the bone yard holds what he needs, or relocate with new wire and boxes.
he wasnt a happy camper.

just thought id share a crazy day
