Contractwars.com

Anyone heard of this? It sounds very similar to the whole lead service created by contractors thread that was discussed a few months ago.

Re: Contractwars.com

Why do they use use that name? I hate the term "wars". Sounds like everyone tries to fight & cut everyone's throat by lowballers now, isn't it !?

Re: Contractwars.com

Unethical to say the least!

This is from there site:

Contractors give you free estimates online. They can then view the estimates their competitors have given you and maybe submit a new estimate to underbid the competition!

Pathetic

Isn't that something? With all these DIY shows and these types of on line "services", it's no wonder why so many H/O's have no respect for what we do

Carpentry; So easy, a caveman could do it

Re: Contractwars.com

Even if no contractors sign up for their service, they still make money.
They take the leads they get and then sell them to RR, SM, MFE, and BFE.
When they turn them over to these other services, they sell them to contractors that are set up with them and it's still contractor wars. This is why 12 contractors show up when SM sells an addition lead.

Pricing is just like bidclerk, you get access to all leads in your area for $49.99 a month.

That about the only comparison you could make between the two. This thing is designed to draw in the tire kickers like no other has

Re: Contractwars.com

It's simply the newest permeation of the online lead service all other bone head contractors have been using for years. The only difference is they are now ready to actually slap contractors stupid enough to still be buying into the whole farce right across the face.

Stupid contractors is as stupid contractors does.

Ask yourself what real difference this is from the other online lead services? The only difference I see is they are now making contractors hold the knife to slit their own throats where as before they at least had the decency to not ask you to actually hold the knife, they did it for you.

The customers played the game behind the scenes with your bids, now they are making you do it for them.

Re: Contractwars.com

Hello,

Thank you for commenting about our company. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated as they made us think about how the business was perceived and how we can improve it. We also wanted to clear up a few thing that were said.

We have updated our site to make it more obvious what it is that we are trying to do. We want people to get good fair bids from many different companies. Our service is adding a layer of transparency compared to other lead services. This should allow contractors to help homeowners from falling into many potential pitfalls. We want our contractors to help homeowners and tell them what they should get for their money. We want our contractors to tell the customers what their bid includes and to be weary of bids that are too low.

As to the underbidding/unethical aspect. We were using "underbidding" as the definition being: to bid lower to win a project (which many companies do to try to get more work, potential referrals, & to build a reputation). Not, to falsely bid lower to win a project and then charge the customer more or to use subpar materials.

Also, we do not sell our leads to any other services because we want our service to have the highest value for our member contractors.

Thanks again,
The ContractWars Team

It would be a cold day before I would conduct business through this type of service....I give a bid, and then someone underbids me....well, they win. I do that now, why pay for a lead service to publish my bids?

Re: Contractwars.com

Here is an actual inquiry from a HO using that service.

Very easy going and friendly couple rehabbing an old home on H***** Avenue, and turning the attic into a bedroom. Contractor to do work in September. Need 6 new windows installed and rotten wood removed. We can pick out windows from Home Depot or buy them from you if we can save money. Contractor to get measurements before we pick out the windows.
Location: USA

Anyone want to see if you could sell cheap windows cheaper than Home Depot?
This is so dumb, a caveman wouldn't do it.
