Contracts And Customer Satisfaction

I'm not sure where to post this, please move to the appropriate forum if this isn't the right one.

Anyway, I have 2 doors that lead into my master bedroom, I accidentally bumped into one while the deadlock was up holding it in place, and ended up cracking part of the top part of the door. The crack was large enough to need a replacement door. I hired a contractor with the sole expectation that when they fixed the door, the door would match the other door exactly since they were twin doors that led into the master bedroom (interior doors).

The contractor comes, does his work, asks me about a stain and it looked right at the time, when he finishes the stain, the stain is nothing like the original door. I mean, one door is a solid brown color, the stain is like a waterbrush of dark brown where there are some light watery brush, either way, the final product is the original door is brown, the other replacement door is like a lighter brown (it's an obvious difference). The contractor even said that the doors don't match but noted that they may get darker in the future. I like the contractor and I trusted his word, so I signed off on the contract, thinking that if they didn't match in a few days after the drying, I could have them come in and redo it as it would be like a warranty and customer satisfaction thing.

Few days later, the colors still didn't match, so I call the company and I end up speaking to the supervisor who says that because I signed the contract, I no longer have any right to them redoing the job or anything. He said that if I wasn't satisfied at the time, I should've never signed. I noted that there should have been a warranty and that I wasn't satisfied in the end but only signed thinking they would be good on their work, and he said that was my own fault and that I shouldn't have signed. I asked them if they would redo it and he said that they wouldn't redo it without additional fees basically forgetting about the fact that I've already paid them "X" amount to get the job done right initially. I asked about customer satisfaction and he said basically, who cares, we did the work and if you want more work done, you pay up. Basically these guys are trying to screw me for the money I paid them even though the job was complete crap.

Basically, at this point, I am not sure what to do. Am I just screwed and I should anticipate ponying up some more money to some other guy to fix my door correctly or should I pursue this further? I mean, I could stop pay this check I made out to them but the supervisor said he would pursue me with a vengeance. Do I have a case here? I mean, I have pictures and the doors look like crap next to each other. I'm just annoyed and frustrated because I hired them with the expectation that my doors would be matching. If they thought they couldn't match the doors, they should've told me to replace both doors or quote me a higher price to make sure they got the exact stain correct.

Hmmm. A dissatisfied consumer on a forum for contractors.

Kinda like a pack of wolves and one sheep discussing what's for supper.

I'd suggest you contact a lawyer.
