The Contractors Working Next Door

I was on job in a ritzy neighborhood today
I was on the back of the house, there's privacy fences up and landscaping so the neighbors don't look like they are too close

After I was there an hour, two trucks pull in next door
I couldn't see them, but could hear them clearly

Two gentlemen, who from their conversations could only be contractors, started up a loud and lively discussion
They spent the next 20 minutes discussing (loudly and with great enthusiasm) how stupid the owners of the house were, and went on to out-do each other with other stupid homeowner stories and how they love to separate dumb rich people from their money...for about another 40 minutes

Then I assume that they then started working, as a radio was turned on and up loud enough for me to hear clearly

Not that I didn't appreciate the Steve Miller, or the stories
But as it was, the owner of the home I was working on was out in the backyard...in a chair...reading the paper...the whole time

Some things are best discussed only after pulling out of the driveway

Idiots! Although I'm sure that I have said some words inside developments with residents that I wish I hadn't of said.

I grew up on a sailboat with a bunch of WWII vets, I know all of the words and phrases. Try as I might, they sneak out sometimes. Never around my kids though. Ol'#1 was worse than me and she was a church woman.

Eye-Ya-Yi! If we could only have that kind of truth serum to hand out to customers when we give an estimate to use on those that follow us!

I always have to give the employee the talk about keeping their opinions to themselves about clients tastes, but those guys - OY!

Problems like that seem to solve themselves. How many years do you suppose a loose lipped provocative contractor like that will be in business?

Re: The Contractors Working Next Door

I know a couple guys like that.
I had to check to see if you were from Chicago just to make sure it wasn't them.
One guy was being penny pinched by a HO.
He looks at the Ho and says, "What, are you Jewish?"
HO looks at him and says, "Yea, actually I am."
The way he tells the story make me laugh every time.

I seem to get help that can't keep their eyes off the HO's wife and can't keep their mouth shut about the HO's wife/personal business the whole time regardless of repetitive warnings. Is it any wonder why I don't have help right now?

Reminds me why contractors are thought so highly of by the genral public; right up there with congressmen and lawyers.

Those are the kinda fellas that make the world go round.

1.They're fun at parties.....gotta beat on somebody.
2.They're wives are generally as loose as they're mouth.... cha-king!
3.Real women wont give em the time of day......plenty to go around
4.They're a blast to fire......no guilt.

In fact the only negative attribute I can see is the vibrations in my inner ear caused by the worthless blabber running out of they're ars.

I was working on a new home and the finish carpenters started slaming the HO hard. Well I piped up and told the Idiot that the owner was in the garage, just then the home owner walked in and told the guys to get the hell out of his house and never come back. Bet there boss wasn't to happy.

A few years back a friend of ours was having a house built. Things went pretty good until the roof was started and then things seemed to slow down. Found out the neighbors wife was suntanning in the back yard and the guys were paying more attention to her than the roofing.

That is when you fire that roofing crew and find one willing to pay you to come 'work' on that job.

Re: The Contractors Working Next Door

Yesterday I broke a rule and I yelled from a roof top "Awww F**k!" as I realized I just sent off one of my workers in the wrong van which had many of the supplies I needed at that moment.

That was a very bad thing for me to do.
