Construction Estimating Institute
I'll be attending their 2 week estimating class in February. Has anyone else ever attended any of their classes? I'd love some opinions on what to expect.

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
I'm attending from Feb 19 to March 3. I'll be more than happy to give you a review. It's a basic overview of the entire estimating process. I'm looking forward to taking it. I'm familiar with some aspects of estimating, but not all of them.

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
If you're talking about CEIA down in Florida, the comoany I worked for in the early 90's was a rep for their software. At the time, their product was excellent, and I believe is what evolved into the Quest program.
At that time, they also offered estimating seminars, and while I never actually attended one personally, I heard nothing but good things from everyone who attended. Of course, this is 15 years ago, so who know's what's changed, if anything. Let us know how it goes. Bob |

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
I took a construction estimating program at my local college (5 courses), covering all types of things. Although I only paint, it sure did open my eyes to alot of interesting things that I didn't know. I think it just made me a better painter, and I have a deeper respect for the guys that are doing this as a profession...
My opinion: Take whatever class / seminar you can... some how, some way it all relates and makes you a better professional Last edited by Danahy; 01-09-2007 at 06:40 PM. |

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
I attended a class at the local college a few years back and it was like a bunch of random topics--no homework or answers to how and why on them. Cant expect much for a couple of sessions for a couple of weeks but if you are oblivious to the process it will be helpful.

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
I was an Instructor for the company(Quest). My region was the northeast and all of Canada. If you interested in making your estimating easy it's the software to have. I left them to work for a small construction company here in Florida, and we use the software. I also have a take-off service that I do on the side, using Quest. They have 2 main products, Estimator and Earthworks. The institute teaches many different things, and is a sister company to Quest. They're main thing is CE hours and training for getting your construction license. Feel free to email me, if you need additional info.

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
Two weeks on estimating? Must be some long lunches and lots of long breaks thrown in there as filler.

Re: Construction Estimating Institute
Did they teach you estimating or quantity survey? There is a difference. Anyhow, 2 weeks isn't nearly enough for either one.
