Chat Room Topics

All right, Nathans got the chat room open, and we would like to schedule specific chat topics. Looking for input as to what topics you would like to see go down.

I'd like to see Finley and Grumpy talk about sales pitches.

Re: Chat Room Topics

I'd kind of like to have some people from companies stop by. It would be a free plug for them and a chance for us to ask some real qestions. I would love to ask Sherwin Williams a few paint related questions.

I'd like to see some of the marketing and sales people that focus on the construction industry. Maybe Micheal Stone from markupandprofit.com

Anything in construction accounting would be awesome.

Re: Chat Room Topics

But who to ask Adam? Should we have chat times where there is just a specific topic and no real host or should we have some "pros" come in?

Re: Chat Room Topics

Nathan, I say both ways. For example, one could be on 'Dealing with employees', and have it an open chat. Another could be hosted by a pro, say Brian P. on building systems.

I've been pondering though, we might need to set some guidelines for using chat while it is being hosted by a pro. Could easily become a real free-for-all if it gets crowded.

Imagine getting Michael Stone to talk on Profit/Markup, and with the amount of members on this site, the number of chatters could easily go over 100. Be tough to coordinate something like that without it getting out of hand.

Well seeing the word "Pros" could be used directly to members of a professional caliber I think some host like the following are good ideas.

Mike Finley knows the contracting trade in and out.

PipeGuy is very knowledgeable and covers some good ground.

BoneSaw would be great for deck questions.

We have all the pros right here.

I think designated times with pros would be cool. Such as the ones I referenced above. I even think an invite to the DIY crowd would be really awesome.
