As long as your email was confirmed it is a legal signature per federal law. It is legal in real estate but the mortgage and title companies still do not except it.

It is correct, but not excepted yet by the corporate world.

Google "electronic signature" or talk with a Lawyer.

I was under the impression that the 'digital signature' had to be accompanied by a "service" that provides such the also includes disclaimer such as 'by typing your name your are verifying your identity and accepting this as your acutal signature...yada yada yada". Email documentation is still very infant in our court systems.

Re: Can I Get In Trouble For This ????

As a past Broker for a large Real Estate company our corporate attorney briefed the federal laws on the email signature, must have been 5 years ago. The Real Estate industry still is not using them, but have been working in that direction. They will use the check box with the I agree statement or similar. The attorney said a true signature was not needed per the law, but the methods were not clear. If I had an agreement with someone made with email I would take it to court. We did small agreements like price reductions and listing agreements using email.
