Built My First House Today

Yep, might not be big thing to you guys who do this all the time, but it was quite a feat for just a dumbass paperhanger like myself.

I did it mostly by myself, but had occasional help from a local laborer.
It took twice as long as I expected, but thank god I had a decent set of plans to work off of. Without those plans, and the helper, it could have easily turned into a long and dreary debacle.

Sticking with the "green" movement, I constructed it out of 95% logs, with the rest being recyclable plastic. Can't wait to build another one if the chance arises.

I attached a picture of the house and helper.

Ah that made my day My wife and kids left the Sunday after Xmas to visit family back east and will be gone for another two weeks. Long story short my 3.5 yr old got Lincoln logs from his grandparents and can't wat till he gets home for us to have a similar experience. I hope my hard head lets me be the "contractor" and he is the "helper" way cool wall guy

Cool - now you can add log home builder to your profile

Looks like a decent apprentice you got there, but he's still smiling? Need to work him harder next time

Had a set just like Malco's when I was a kid. When my son was a lil tike my father made him a wooden block set, one of the best toys he ever had. I think that any toy that you can spend time with your children enjoying is great! You're a lucky guy Pro.

I would suggest spraying Sikkens through an 8900 for your exterior (keep the pressure about 2800psi)

Nice job on the build

My boys (2 & 4 years old) have been going nuts w/the lincoln logs they got for x-mas. Maybe we need a "post a picture of..." thread for this too.

Love the Cars pj's. We've got about 20 pairs of Lightnin', Mater, Doc, etc... between the two of 'em. One of my favorite kid-flix... "He did what in his cup?" Never gets old!
