Boneheaded Homeowners

What are some of the stupid things you've seen homeowners do? I'm sure everybody has seen it all but for me, this takes the cake.
Husband and wife decide to redecorate their living room in a Southwestern theme here in So. Cal. Satillo tile, faux finishing on walls etc.

Husband gets an idea that the room needed a focal point, something to stand out. Gets the bright idea "Hey, I'll go out to the desert and bring back a Joshua tree, pot it in a nice clay planter---that should do it!" (Never mind its a protected speceis.)
Goes to desert, brings it back and sets it in living room.

About three weeks later, hubby and wife are upstairs in bed and they hear a cracking sound, followed by a muffled "pop"! WTF!??!!
Turn on the lights and there are hundreds & hundreds of baby tarantulas everywhere!

$3000 later ($2500 for fumigation and another $500 to get rid of dead spiders) they're thinking maybe a painting would've been a better idea.

Re: Boneheaded Homeowners

On a major remodel, I was doing something in a sub-panel, the ho came over (atty) and said that's easy, let me do it, he took the screwdriver from my hand and stuck it in the panel, hit something live and sparks flew like 4th of July. He turned white as a ghost, gave me back the screwdriver and never bothered us again.
