Banking Issue, Debit Card Gets Rejected Bi-weekly

hey guys, im wondering has anyone here had the issue im currently dealing with at my bank. for the last 6 weeks or so every second week ill go to a atm or a bank machine to get cash and it will say cannot accept card contact branch. so i do it and when they scan the card it says its fine. and they cant explain whats going on. the money is in the account to take out a couple 20's and then some but still the machine says no.. ive been screwed over in the past by this bank is it time to change banks?

are you exceeding your daily limit for debit purchases, I have had debit cards with limits as low as $350 regardless of your account balance?

It could be that your wife or kid is using it to buy beakers and lab equipment on the internet while your passed out in the lazy boy.

last i checked my limit per day was $1000, and i havent come close to that, bigger numbers goes to the credit card. and with that they are calling me wanting to know if i want to lower my interest rate as i pay more than the minimum required

this bank has given me problems in the past, they have frozen my account and cost me money do to their clerical errors and not processing plan changes which i have made. getting tired of using the lawyer threat to get them to smarten up

CIBC in Toronto errored once on me in the early 90's. I deposited to my account, they applied to someone elses account. They actually had the nerve to ask me to give them time to replace the cash since the person who's account got a 10k boost had spent it!!! No, I had them credit me immediately, make two phone calls to the people who's checks bounced and issue apoligy letters to them and cover their fees that thier banks charged them.

Kinda felt good for a minute having 3 people treating me better than normal once their mistake was realized.

How scratched up is the strip on the back of the card - I have had problems with that & the occasional swipe station that is screwy.

I have had this happen too. Last time was at a grocery store said card was declined. Walked 10 steps to the ATM and withdrew cash with same card. Sometimes the bank or atm network is down for a few moments and you will get this notice.

Hardly Working

I had a similar issue with my card. The ATM at the bank use to say "Declined" and then keep my card. At the time a close friend worked for the bank fixxing the ATM's and for 2 beers he'd go into the bank and retrive it for me. Only at one branch would it do this though. Got a new card and it stopped.
