Attaching Baseboard To Conrete.
hello all,
This is a great forum! Thank you in advance for your knowledge. I am working on a remodel job, and looking to put in prefinished pine baseboards. (I can match the finish, as I srayed them!) Trouble is, there is a concrete footing all around this room (it was originally a concrete slab sleeping porch). Its only about 40 lf. The walls have a hand troweled earth paster on them, and they will definitely not take an adhesive. My best ideas are to: Cut and scribe the baseboards up to the walls, and remove the plaster down to concrete and use an adhesive. Figure out some kind of finish concrete screw that will go into predrilled holes, and carefully plug the holes. Anyone else have any great ideas???? rustic andy |

There have been other threads on this subject.
That's what the search function is for. My best method is: Drill holes Drive in wood plugs Nail base into wood plugs.

Neo has a good idea.
You could apply some kind of paint or bonding agent that will bond to the plaster AND take and adhesive for your trim. |

Re: Attaching Baseboard To Conrete.
I like Neo's.
Further outside the box, however... Ramset one layer to the conc., pin nail a second layer to the first; thinset a tile baseboard to the earth plaster (I assume?), modified thinset sticks to anything in my experience, although I have NO experience with 'earth plaster', (never even heard of it; if it really is what it sounds like then it needs to be taken out of there IMO before it starts growing things) Paint a base on. If you're good you can even make it appear 3d. Faux paint some grain on... Ok, I'm going back inside the box now.
