Anyone installed Slide Fold Doors?

I just purchased a "slide/fold" door from a local door manufacturer. It uses eclipse systems hardware. I was suprised to find out that the 18' x 8' door system came in as many parts as it did. Currently, I have (6) 3'0 x 8'0 full light fir doors, an assortment of unfinished dimentional fir, a bunch of hardware, and a sill and overhead track. Because of the size, the frame has to be put together onsite and then installed. After that, all of the door hardware gets installed and the doors are set in place. My thought is to prefinish all of the jamb materials and the doors offsite and then take them to the jobsite to install. My concern is that I am having to put together the jamb stops and other pieces, and I don't know how the finished product will look if it is put together after finishing. Any thoughts or advice? I've got a $13,000 door that is in about 60 pieces and I don't want to screw it up.

Hire the accordian door out. It will be cheaper and better in the end. Guaranteed.

I second that. Bring in someone who is familiar with this system, get it hung right, and watch him do it so maybe next time, if you're still interested in doing the install, you won't have such a head-scratcher.

I had the same experience with some humongous Fleetwood sliders once.
When I saw what the installers did, I was glad I called them.

Is it the six panel setup with handles on the center two?

thanks for the help. If it only takes you 20-30 minutes it might be cheaper for me to fly you out to washington state and install it for me. Here I was figuring it would two days, what was I thinking?
