Anyone Ever Build A Mini Storage Building?
1st post, been reading a bunch of posts and I am so glad I found this sight. I have approx 30 yrs exp in various carpentry stuff ,but I've never built an all metal mini storage building. I have a cousin who wants me to build several of these for him. The first one is going to be 30x200 with basically 60 units of 10 x 15. I have no idea how to bid this so I could use any advice anyone can give. thanks for the help.

I haven't done it but if you are looking at manufactured buildigs, they appear to be fairly simle, kind of like a fullsccale model.

Re: Anyone Ever Build A Mini Storage Building?
Don't attempt to "build" it from scratch- there are several companies that manufacture them in kit form, and you just assemble the pieces. Most of the companies also erect what they sell, and they'll do it far cheaper that you'll ever do it, because they do it all day long. You'll still be trying to figure out how all the pieces go together when they're roling up their tools and heading home.
That's not meant to be a dig on you- it's just far more cost-effective to give this somewhat "specialized" construction to a company that does it for a living. Bob |

Re: Anyone Ever Build A Mini Storage Building?
I agree with Bob.
These buildings are built using all steel so they wont burn down in a fire or fall down in an earthquake. Generally speaking this would require it be engineered and pre-fabricated so to speak. This and other factors make a project such as this a "Specialized" area of construction. Not impossible to get done, just not a "Standard Project" Good Luck |
