Re: Is Any One Else Slow Right Now?

We are fortunate, we are getting slammed. Fingers crossed that it keeps up.

I am in New England, and work mainly in MA. I read in the local paper that, any kind of a recession, or slow down....is forecasted to pass over MA.
Everyone in the field I know, has been busy, and is busy now.

Sorry to hear about things being slow for others elsewhere.

I've been working in Westchester County, NY. Very busy. Have work for several months out. Have to turn down jobs.

Re: Is Any One Else Slow Right Now?

Ive wanted to expand into Westchester County my partners don't want to because of the 1.5 hour drive. They don't understand people down there got so much money they don't care about a recession.

Maybe because there is no recession.

The company I work for is busy but the jobs aren't as big as they were a year or two ago.

We're booking for Jan/feb 2009 right now And with the amount of work we "scheduled" for this summer, Jan/feb will likely turn into spring 09

I am also very busy. I am booking work for the fall. I know there are hungry people in my town, luckily I am currently not one of them. I do all types of work so I am not as limited as many who are slow.

Calif. construction off $10.8 billion, nation’s worst

June 10th, 2008

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis says that its measure of state Gross Domestic Product shows California’s construction trades losing $10.8 billion of its business in 2007, the first drop in the 11-year history of this measurement. Overall 49 of 50 states lost construction out in ‘07. California’s drop was the biggest among the states and accounted for 1-in-6 of the $67 billion lost in construction work nationwide between 2006 and 2007.

We're doing o.k. up here. It's better than last year so far. We should be good for awhile yet.

I hope it turns soon for the areas that are suffering.

Good Luck

Same here. The only thing that slowed us up a little was all the nasty rain that we got.

Re: Is Any One Else Slow Right Now?

I'm booked for the next year and handing off more work then I can believe due to all the calls. I insist on 1 day off a week and I'll be damned if I give that up just for a little more money.

Don't build new. Make old look new again!

Re: Is Any One Else Slow Right Now?

It is slow here Just now showing signs of picking up with in the last month. I think we have another 6 months to go before any real signs of progress shows up.

Certain counties in Virginia and Maryland seem to be doing well. DC is still slowly putting along
