American Contractors

This morning at the coffee hangout, we were talking about American Hotrod and American Chopper...and how fun it would be to have American Contractor. My electrical contractor would be a class act...he might get 2 words out before the long beep..and the guys who pour the floors...I don't think anything they say to each other could be on TV...even cable. ..and how bad would we look to the average guys who watch Extreme Makover or This Old House? Sometimes we truly look like the Keystone Cops led by Laurel and Hardy.

I'm still waiting to see Norm sling a hammer across the room with choice words following it, or go off on his sub's one time. A nice whack to the thumb with the hammer would suffice.

Re: American Contractors

Didn't anybody see Monster House. A little far fetched but it showed how construction workers get along. Also the Adam Carola project. It was funny and also weird to see how some things are done in different parts of the country. I was amazed at how they were working on sheetrock before the shingles were even put on or the windows in.

Dave.

Re: American Contractors

As long as the builder looks like Paul Sr. from American Chopper, I'd watch it all day long.

Re: American Contractors

i'd really hate to see the work close up that these extreme make over shows do, where the whole site is swarmed by a hundred guys in blue shirts and they build a whole house in a week. i don't care who you have working there, or even if they are working 24 hours a day, corners have to be cut somewhere and it might look good on camera but close up in person, i bet it's a nightmare.

haha, my father and I fight all the time just like the Teutel's. So the one guy that works with us said that we should bring some cameras to work and start a show called "American Excavator"

That's exactly right!! I was invited to a photo shoot for Pontiac High Performance magazine in Detroit 3 yrs ago and car was still fresh from the makeover but had flaws from racing up to that point. I talked to the photgrapher before heading up and let him in on some flaws and he laughed stating you should see how alot of there "cover" cars come in and that the camera has a great way of either hiding obvious flaws and how placed shots can be made to over look these flaws as well.

Same with TV production. They shot 3 episodes of Pinks at our track (where guys race for titles to the vehicles) and I'll tell ya, seeing in first hand during the shoot and then seeing the editing version on tv...wow is all I can say-dont believe everything you see on tv is all I can say.

Either way, all you have to do is look at mass production developments and listen to the owners complain about this and that and these are 3 month builds so I cant imagine a 1 week build would be any different no matter who's doing the build, no way you can expect everything to be 100% right with only a weeks time to do it.
