Accounting software

I know this topic has been discussed already but I was wondering if anyone has tried any different software besides QuickBooks. I have been checking out alot of different software and I have found two others that seem to be about the same thing. One is called peachtree, and the other is Bookkeeper by a company called MY SOFTWARE. The peachtree is about the same price as Quickbooks, but the Bookkeeper is about $35. They all seem to have about the same features so I'm wondering if you just pay for the name with Quickbooks, or is there really that much difference in quality? It looks like the Bookkeeper software may not be as flashy. Since I don't care about flash only functionality it's hard for a tightwad like me to spend the extra dough if all I get is a little flash. I really don't mind spending two hundred bucks for the Quickbooks pro if it is that much better. Any advice?

I have never heard of the "bookkeeper" program - if ya have a link, I can peek at what the features are. My experience with peachtree and Quickbooks is you are either a Quickbooks lover or a Peachtree lover. If you have an accountant - ask them which they prefer. A lot of accountants use quickbooks. If your accountant uses peachtree, it would make sense to use that. I personally, as I am sure you have read, are a quickbooks user. From what I was told (i never used peachtree), quickbooks is easier to learn.

I have tried both Peachtree and Quickbooks. I like Quickbooks better, it integrates with both flat rate plus and bottom line service systems...which are my pricing software and dispatch/customer database software. Also, Quickbooks pro was actually included with my credit card terminal service for free, might be something to think about.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did some more research last night and found out that the Bookkeeper software requires a subscription to use the payroll tax tables so I would probably be better off with quickbooks. I am about to head out the door to buy it now.

FYI You will find that QB has a subscription for the tax tables as well. It is how they make money on Recurring Revenue. They all seem to do it that way. QB is the easiest to set up and learn. Except for the subscription issue you will love it.

Over the years, my wife has used "Simply Accounting", "Open Systems", "Peach Tree", "Simply Accounting" and at least one other I can't remember.
Her best friend had a bookkeeping franchise with its own highly developed system.
Both women say that Quick Books, with all its various versions, is hands down the best.
