5 Years And 500,000 Posts

It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since I started this site but time flies. ContractorTalk.com (Originally named ContractorsChatroom.com) was started in September of 2003. It's been a long road but I've had a lot of fun and have enjoyed ever minute of it.

Tonight, we reached another milestone... 500,000 posts. This is a huge number of posts containing some of the best information about the construction, remodeling, and service industry. We have become the place for professional contractors to meet online.

I just wanted to post a quick thank you to the members of this site who call this their home and make this all possible. And of course this site wouldn't run if it wasn't for the help of the moderators who keep everything on track.

Thank You All

The small baseball forum I run hit two million posts in a little over seven years, with a far smaller number of members, if you want to use that as a goal.

Big THANK YOU Nathan! for making this contractor's site.

It's been a great place to learn, understand, acknowledge, and just kick back and see what so many contractor's here have to say as well as to show off there job-site photos, trade skills and workmanship to their craft.

BTW Nathan I didn't receive my "free" Contractor Talk tee yet... Just a little reminder for when you get some free time to send it

Good Luck getting to 1,000,000

Customs. Guard it with your life. Computers aren't so mainstay in other parts of the world. A computer in a third world (eastern/southern Europe) is a years salary or more.

Re: 5 Years And 500,000 Posts

I'll have you know, I have learned a lot from this site. I have added a piece here or there of my knowledge. Great place to visit except for one thing. Lost productivity. I have lost thousands of dollars squandering my time here when I should of been doing work! It's all your fault Nathan!
For all the pro's...

Re: 5 Years And 500,000 Posts

Average ~15 page views per post, means ~7.5-million page views.

At about, what, one click on an ad per ~500 page views? At, say, ~25-cents per click (typical AdSense rate)...

Means ~$3,750 in income so far from the site. Divide by 5 years =~ $750/year.

Even if I'm off by a factor of 10, big max $7,500/yr.

It must be for love of the industry, 'cause we're not making you rich doing this...

Umm, yeah...I wouldn't be so sure of those revenue numbers.
