User Friendly Accounting Software?
Hey guys, I'm new to the site and am really happy to find such an active community in the trades on-line. I have just recently started up my own company and was wondering if any of you could recommend the best user friendly accounting programs out there? I am currently using Quicken 2008 Premier and am fairly efficient with computers but still find this program a little bit tricky. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

here are some good options: Quickbooks Premier Contractor, ConstructionPartner, EZJOB, FoundationSoft, MaterBuilder, A-Systems, ComputerEase. All are very easy to use. Hope that helps!

We need to upgrade from Peachtree for Contractors for better job costing, change order, and document management reasons. We have narrowed the search to the Construction Partner, ComputerEase, FoundationSoft, Jonas Construction, and Master Builder programs. Any comments on any of these would be appreciated - good and bad comments! Also, any others I might want to consider? Thank you for your help.

I think EADOC is a good option for you...Not too familiar with them but do a search on Google.

Just make sure your software allows you to simplify tracking costs and revenue per job. It's very important practice and one that a lot of contractors don't do. Also check to see if you can count for over head expenses in each "Job File" so when you look at your P&L for the job you see the real picture.

2 cents from the Tech Guy
I've configured both MasterBuilder and Construction Partner for several clients (throw in an American Contractor install somewhere) - when it works, Construction Partner isn't bad, but their support is horrific. MasterBuilder is a little more resource intensive (server wise) but support is very good. I know this doesn't speak to functionality, but you should also consider that they're software apps and subject to bugs/failures, and you will likely require assistance at some point...
