A True Service Invoice

My 2008 Quicken Home & Business would suffice for my business (handyman/ carpenter) except that I can't customize an invoice that bills both labor & materials on the same invoice. Quicken can't seem to understand what it is that I need.
Anybody here get Quicken to do this? If not, what software will produce a True Service Invoice?
Steve

A better suggest would be "QuickBooks Pro".

SLSTech,
I thought about Quick Books, but the website doesn't give you a good view or description of what kind of invoices that I could create. I would hate to spend that kind of money & get the same limited invoices available from Quicken.
Precisionbuild,
That's a nice program to print invoices & such, but I was hoping for something that is linked to a simple accounting program that will make my end of year tabulations less hectic.

After a lengthy download of the free Quickbooks, I am still unimpressed with the choice of invoices. Of all the invoices they offer that will feed your info into the data base, none can be customized. The only invoice they allow to be customized is only for printing & not for storing the information in the customers files. All I want is to be able to change the footer so that it will allow for a Labor charge?

quickbooks will not let you customize the footer for a labor charge. You can however edit any of the invoices and include a separate column for labor. This can be done quite easily.

Labor can be a line item on the invoice.

As can items from inventory.

It is hard to visualize or describe with your limited time using the demo file.

Call you accountant they may have a full version that they can demo for you to give you a better idea.

Good luck.

Les

To customize an invoice in quickbooks, you must first make a copy. The you can customize it.

Maybe a demo limitation you are dealing with?

looks like I've run across an older thread and you may have the bugs worked out...but all forms are highly customizable in QB's, it may take some time to get them just the way you want and be sure to 'hide' the cells you don't want to print out, but it is possible. There are built in fields which I've deleted in the printout version for clients b/c it would provide too much info. QB's also lets you add your own fields to a customer, which may be used for a variety of things such as how they heard about your services.
