Quickbooks Pro

I am thinking on purchasing Quickbooks Pro. My question is regarding the different forms available when creating estimates or invoices. Is there one or more choices available that shows Item, Description, Quantity, Rate, Total on the computer screen but only shows maybe Description, Quantity and a Total of all on the customers printed form?

For inventory I would like to have it all listed for me for tracking purposes.
However I would prefer the customer not seeing in print how it is all broken down.

Any info would be great. Thanks!

Quickbooks will do all that but you'll have to make sure to take the time to print purchase orders and receive the inventory into your system.

Most contractors find that it's more time-consuming than they are prepared for, though, so it depends on how much time you're willing to spend on it. If you have a lot of purchases during the month, it could be tough to keep up with it when you get busy.

But, to answer your question.......... yes, it can be done in the regular Pro version.

Thanks Linda!
Anyone else hiding the quantity and rate info from the customer on their invoice?

You can customize the form to show just what you want to on the screen and it can be different from what prints.

From the menu, select Lists, Templates, the form you want to change, then select the Open Form button on the bottom of the Templates window.

Now, open the customization form...

You'll see the following and note that you can display things on the form on the screen only or to print only, or both.

You can also just look through the help in QB, its quite extensive.

Hope this helps.

Double A,
That's it! Here is why. The other screen prints were good to see but that last print tells me exactly what i was wondering and more! I just needed to see what was available to hide for quantity, rate, etc...
I appreciate your time!

The pretty blues are better than the other choices, like puke lime green.

If you haven't purchased yet, consider premier version, preferable Accountant Premier Edition. Just a thought. There is a comparison chart on my web page, on the articles and links page.

Sarah, Thanks for your reply.
I am an owner operator of a just started landscape lighting company and I do this on the side from my regular job which is full time landscaping/tree moving. I don't see myself having any employees anytime soon or at all.

Knowing this would you still say I need anything more than Quickbooks Pro?
If so why?
Thanks much for your time!

I never tell anyone to go to a higher version than they want to because you can always upgrade. Of course it's a good idea to plan to keep the first version for a year, or until a new release comes out.

You don't need Premier unless you want the benefits of more reports, change orders and some of the other features of the contractors edition. BYW: there is a service/work order program that integrates with QuickBooks if you ever get to that. I haven't seen it yet but plan on taking a webinar soon to review it.

Good Luck, I'm sure you will do well, Hopefully you'll have time to keep it up, you sound busy, working days and nights.
