Quick Books Vanished!

We went to send out an invoice today, but when we opened up Q/B it said " no company open". It prompts us to click on our company, we do, click open, and back we go to "no company open" again!!!

Never had problems like this and we've never seen this page when we open Q/B. We even tried system restore and that doesn't work.

Anyone know what the heck it is that's causing this problem?

Well, we've had it for a year now and it works great. I'm hopeing there is a simple solution. We have some stuff backed up on CD's but the problem is we can't even get it to open up our company info.

We just changed over computers. Went from xp to xp so no Vista type problems. We are reinstalling the program now. The wife said it (the program) may not have been saved correctly when we tranfered. We'll see soon!

Jason,
Which version of QB?

On my QB Pro this used to happen, and I'd have to Click on" File," "open company",and then double click the file name .

That happened to me once after I did an accountants copy an it was unavailable until we did something if you don't find it post again and I will ask my g/f what she did to get it back

It's Q/B Premiere 2007. Still re-loading

We will try the double click on file name once it's done. Wife said "Oh, I didn't try that".

Why would this start happening? Seems strange that it started doing something different all of the sudden.

Nothing different. No scans going on at the time, no re-starts, and no power outages. We have no clue what's happening. Couldn't be a worse time for this to happen, so of course, it is!

It's been working just fine for the last few weeks since we transferred to the new computer.

It's a pisser when this happens, but it's probably an easy fix.

It hasn't happened to me in a while,as I now run directly from the CD and as soon as I open the drive where the disc is the program starts up ,prompting for the password.

I wish I could remember exactly what I had to do to make it work, but it's been a while.
I'm sure someone will be along with a fix for you Jason.

Patrick,

I've been using Quickbooks pro for many many years and its a great product. The only reason I ever upgraded was to gain the ability to e-mail my invoices. That was it. I use both Quickbooks (for personal) and Quickbooks Pro for both my businesses.

Don't worry. Most of these bugs are computer specific and not software related.

Jason,

You can contact Quickbooks for the fix. I think they charge about $40. If you think of how much time you are wasting or loosing, its worth it!

Remember, folks: Back up early and often. I back up every day (ok make that every third day), and transfer the backed-up file to a remote computer. Even if your program gets toasted your data is safe.

Well, we ended up having to re boot QB. After that we downloaded our back up files and all is well. I have a feeling that something was missed when we switched computers.

That was a little to scary, the thought of loosing information like that around tax time We down loaded the program and back up files in my computer for another back up if that should ever happen again.

Thanks for all that jumped in with suggestions and support, this is a great place
