Mine wants to use Outlook to do the sending. Have you checked your MS Outlook on that machine to be sure you have the company email set up properly?

I agree with Double-A, sounds like something isn't configured right.
If all else fails, just save it as a PDF and attach it to your regular email and send it that way. I usually do it that way with invoices anyway as I use a custom email template and like the look better than QuickBooks' generic email forms.

The newer versions of QB have the option of saving as a PDF right in the FILE menu, I am not sure what version this started with though. If you use the PDF's a lot it might be a good time to upgrade.
I know, I hated to upgrade to a newer QB version too, especially since they screwed us over with no more reduced upgrade pricing (so much for customer loyalty) but had no choice, the older version had too many problems with IE 7, and it did have a couple newer features I wanted.
You scanning software may (most do) have the option of saving a scan as a PDF file. You might have to hunt around a little or check the documentation to see if it does and how to do it.

You should be able to "Print To" a free PDF program. Check out Primo PDF, I believe it's a free download and then would show up as a printer when you go to print. When you print a file to it, you would be asked where to save the file, then you could attach it to an email.
Or better yet...UPGRADE!!! LOL

In QB 08 there are two ways to send email, via Outlook and via QB. It is a setting in Preferences. If you don't use Outlook and you have it set to use Outlook, that could be a problem.
The setting "send via Outlook" is new and it is nice because then you can track when you sent something and have proof, with the setting "send via QB" you dont' really know exactly what date and time you sent the estimate.
Both ways automatically should be creating the estimate as a PDF without you doing anything special to make that happen.
