Can you help to access the account work remotely?

Hello everybody, I need to employ someone for maintaining my accounts books and for that I am thinking of outsourcing the work. It is better to do this rather than keep an accountant on the run whole day. But, I want them to work on my pc, as I do not want to upload/scan the account books to other people on their place. I need something like remotely accessing the work that I provide. Can you give me some advice on providers of this criteria?

if you use quickbooks there is an online version.

If you use something else besides quickbooks check out pcanywhere or logmein.

If your computer uses windows xp there is a remote connect feature as well but not as secure as the options above.

IS that what u had in mind?

I'm also wondering if Dropbox may be an option... put the QBooks files in a shared folder on your machine, share it with the person working remotely.

You have the added advantage that the files are saved on the Dropbox server.. instant, off-site backup.

You would need to make sure you don't both make changes at the same time though.

I just talked to a bookkeeper who charges $20/hr-at her place or yours. Shop around-ask other contractors for recommendations about local people. look up the difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper-I 'think' a bookkeeper enters transactions. an accountant makes decisions which have tax ramifications. One I'm sure costs more than the other.

The online version of QB's isn't a bad idea! Or, set up an server environment and the person can log on remotely-probably a lot more secure than the remote access available in XP or Vista. In this case, the remote user can remotely log on to YOUR computer through the network-all though wouldn't be necessary if the QB's file were located on the server.
