web site working

I got a buddy of mine (professor at a local university) to do up a web site for me a while back, (I did/do work for him now and then) and at the time I thought it would be just an expense. Wrong! folks are seeing my very small add in the local paper, and then going to my web site. Several have mentioned it! its very simple, and while I would make some small changes, its getting folks to call me.

Next problem? learn how to close a sale!!!! I got some larnin to do

out of the 28 ads in our local (friday's) paper for carpentry/trades/handymen - only four have a website or an email address. Some of them have a really nice newpaper ad though! good graphics, nice lettering etc. I can't afford that-yet!

Just think if you sent them to a capture page and gave them a coupon by email, in return they would give you their name, phone number and email so you could send them specials and advertise to them in the future.
After they are a client you could ask for referrals an keep in touch for future business...Just a thought.

17 days later - so hows it going now?

You have got a nice web page, now you need to turn it into a site
You could probably sell some of that stuff directly off your site - foot stools, hutches (just not made from Balsa wood though)

To make it really pop, get an email address with your domain as the extension instead of @gmail.com. Adds to your professionalism and longevity. Kind of like the difference between painted trucks and magnetic signs.
