Nobody (on The Internet) Cares What I Do
I was going through my Googly Analytic's page last night, and I noticed something that sort of surprised me at first, but upon further reflection made some sense.
Like most contractor websites, I have a link button on the top of the homepage to my "services" page. Like most contractor sites, it has the usual laundry list of different services I provided. Well, guess how many people actually click through to that page. Only 2 - 2 1/2%!!! Nobody actually cares what I do! My "about us" and "contact us" page get ten times more click through. I guess being an electrician, people basically know what I do, and don't need to figure out that I can hang a ceiling fan for them, or change out their electrical service as well. I am thinking about doing away with this page, and replacing it with something else, but first wanted to know if others have come to similar conclusions. Anybody else see similar results with their site?

I don't care for the colors, but that's a separate issue. Just to answer your question, and be aware that I didn't check your ranking so this is a general statement, you don't want to actually get rid of the page. Even if human visitors are not viewing it, the bots are logging the content. Keep it. If the site is converting, don't worry. If not, then work on improving the pages they are looking at.

I agree don't get rid of the page, even if 98% of the people don't look, 2% of the people do and they may need that information before they call you.
One quick tip about your site.... Put your street address on everypage of your site. This has been known to help with local search results. You could put it in your left menu bar at the bottom. I think you have a clean site that is easy to navigate - good job!

Thanks for the tip on the address KCremodeler.
![]() On the color thing, I originally had the same color as my logo for the background, and a web guy on another forum suggested I brighten the background up. Looks like I may have gone too far!

Yeah, I agree with not getting rid of it, because the search engines use the information to help people searching for ceiling fan or whatever to your site. If you take it out, google might not connect you when some looks for an electrician who does ceiling fans

They want to know if you they can trust you. If they are looking for this type of information then I would go further and put up a video of yourself etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nUBq...layer_embedded Join some social networking sites, put friends connect on your site and get people to join etc. |

On the other hand, displaying your address seems to bring a sense of legitimacy and trustworthiness. I'm conflicted. . . . |

Re: Nobody (on The Internet) Cares What I Do
I have heard the address vs. work area concern before. I always recommend that you put your address on every page.
The way around it is to list the metro cities or geographic areas that you serve, so that you are not discounted by those that are some distance from you. Hope that helps!
