Google map - have you guys tried this
I am trying to find anyone who has ever tried this and if so did it work? I was contacted by a guy who says he can get me the top ten listing in Google for the local search by the map. I wanted to get there but never know how he also is very affordable, one time small fee, but I don't know if he is legit, Anyone? He gave me references to call and showed me before and afters, but I was hoping someone had done this before. So for example if you Googled siding company seattle, you would see a map with a-j listing, he say he can me there? do you guys know? thanks Chaz

why dont you just do it for him man, hell, if he had to go on here and ask how to do that stuff, then, i dont think i would reply to such an obvious answer. he could be his own SEO, but that would be too much to ask of him at this point.

The local search is just that, local. They don't work the same way as regular searches. Google uses the best match and the nearest distances to sort the results.

I am always 1, 2, or 3 on google organic but on the local I am down a bit further. But I dont care much about the local. Not a lot you can do about the local except hope that everyone else goes out of business.

Supposedly if you add pictures, video, customer review or coupons it helps. I did most of this and am constantly in the top 3.

I got to the top in Yahoo and Google local in only a couple of weeks. Add pics, have customers write reviews and fill out as much info as possible.

Nearest distance is not quite correct, it use to be the nearest to the city center, this does not carry the weight it use to with the algorithms. Although the regular search and local search are different algorithms it is based on relevancy, so it possible to optimize the listing just like organic SEO, but it’s local optimization.

Not correct, you ablsolutely can do LOCAL SEO or optimization. Don't think the only way to get there is hoping they go out of business.

I'm really not an expert in this field but it worked for me, purely by accident. I filled out the little deal on google maps to add my business then one day I was messing around and googled "los angeles finish carpentry" and there I was on the top of the page, also googled hollywood, beverly hills, & different variations & I come up right there in the map.
The irony is i never really wanted all that exposure- I usually like word of mouth so I know the clients are cool and my website is more of an online portfolio in the rare case I need to be qualified. Anyways that's how it worked for me, I show up on the map though but there is a link to my site, still right at the top and it was free- just filled out the add your business thing

Google Map
YES - get on google maps asap; for your title use your business type not your business name, for instance if your an electrician, use electrician, you will be at the top of the local search for electrician

So let me get this straight. You pay someone to hack your name to the top rating? Damn, I want you to do work for me. Sure do.

Google and Ad Words
I have found that if you run a Google Adwords campaign and keep the cost per click down way below their suggested price and a tiny cost per day it helps with your ranking.
I run more advertising through Christmas and noticed higher rankings once my adwords ads started.
