Blog Rollin down the river

Some of us have started blogs, its work and like everything else requires time and patience.
If anyone wants to share tips, maybe we can start a small group to help each other advance our blog skills.
Anyone?

Paul, is your blog about life in the hood, or under the hood?

BTW, you may want to check up on have the word 'sex' in your blog. I can't remember where, but I read somewhere that words like that will either ban you or make you invisible. I will check where I saw that. Hmmmmm.......sex in da hood.

Blog, what blog?

Anyone have any blogs that they use to show work progress? You know, like a web log of work they have done. Or is everyone just blabbing, oops, I mean blogging.

Here's a couple of things I've found recently for thoughts on blogging and marketing:

On web marketing - WebInkNow: http://www.webinknow.com/

Marketing technology article from Kitchen and Bath Design News: http://www.kitchenbathdesign.com/pri...hnology/2$5284

On blog writing - Mens with Pens: http://menwithpens.ca/

I had a customer a couple weeks ago tell me if he signed my contract will I shut up. I'd told him I'd leave with a smile.

But back to blogging, if you can get any of your articles to become landing pages as a source of information, those viewers who are in your target market can be directed to your website for even more information, and more importantly, your contact info.

the nice thing about blogging is you don't have to write your posts as if they're newspaper articles. you can let a bit of your personality flow out and that's what people are looking for. it makes your presence look a bit more human, a human your prospects can work with. add some humor, maybe recap your last project...

We gotta be funny??!?!

Nah. Construction people have no sense of humor. That's why I never drink anything when reading posts in CT. Keyboard can only be replaced so many times...

Are you using your websites server location to host the layout? When I signed up they gave me a choice between like 16.. if I had a website I could upload the layout I choose and go about it that way, but a free blog from wordpress is kinda limited.. at least from what I have discovered. I am right on this? Or did I overlook some things Paul?

What I did was get the Wordpress Blog, then I got a domain (MinneapolisKitchenRemodeling.com)
Instant search term placement. So the platform is Wordpress, I got my own domain for placement and the hardest part is writing for it.

So for you your out $9 if you get GoDaddy to host.
There is Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com and I use both.
None of this is easy for me and I got help setting up the blog on my own domain. I used Len from Upscale (a CT member).
Since then I have learned a lot, but still consider myself a beginner.
For you I'll bet you could still get a great search term for your blog domain.

KC painting pro.com for example.

Paul, you come up with the best titles for your blogs. I could print them out and make a collage of them. They really are art.
