What Do You Know About ServiceMagic

I have a quick question. I have been looking at advertisment and am now listing in the YellowPages for 2007 . I was searching the web and came across a company called ServiceMagic. I am sure you have heard of them. Pretty much you pay like 80 dollars a year to get listed in their site. I just want to advertise for Tiling installations because im slammed already with Remodels, etc. Are any of you members and if so what is the lead percentage? Thanks in advance

John

Re: What Do You Know About ServiceMagic

If you're slammed with remodels, the last thing you may want to do is get involved with SM. Eighty dollars won't even buy you a week's worth of leads and 60% of them will be bad (you still pay for them and have to jump through hoops to get credit) So during your first month while you are working on your remodels you get 12 leads that cost you $300. The first six are bad (fake phone number, person on phone will have no idea what you are talking about, their kid filled out the form etc) Of the remaining four, one is tiling a 16 s/f entry, another is a 40 s/f bathroom, the other two are decent jobs but you are competing against three other guys for the bid.

This is just compiled, anecdotal stuff I've gathered from the trade boards. I may be way off base but I keep reading the same thing over and over. There are guys that have success with these leads but usually they are working sheerly on the power of numbers and have salespeople to chase the leads. If they land just one of the above jobs for lets say $3000, their acquisition cost for that lead was right on the money.

Re: What Do You Know About ServiceMagic

i have to agree, Not worth it.
I tried them out for 1 month I got
34 leads
I was actually about to contact 20 via email or phone call.
the remaining 24 did'nt respone to my emails, voicemail.
I scheduled apps with 7 of the leads
4 leads thought I was too much money
1 lead was jsut curious how much a 220v circuit cost to install and i sold one for
$670.
I spent.
about $312 to get the onlead.

Not worth it at all.

RUN FROM SERVICE MAGIC.
