Re: What BS,..How Can I Resolve - Remove.

I don't get it though. They don't want a fee from you Crow. (so far) A h/o isn't likely to pay for information on contractors. That info is too easily obtained. Other than them putting their ph.# under your name, where is the hook? How are they making money off of this?

I put my zip in their search for contractors box and came up with no contractors in this area. So now I'm thinking....

Would I be pissed if they had my company listed and it wasn't costing me anything?

I think probably so. Just because I haven't asked them to do it. But... advertisement is advertisement. Still don't know what their angle is.

Re: What BS,..How Can I Resolve - Remove.

Don't get me wrong, I love advertisement.

But instead of listing there number, they could list mine, like any other on line listing service. Or where it says contact us, it should direct them to my website, or a e-mail composure box with my addy already in place.

I just don't like the middle man hustle, thats the part that really bugs me.

Even if they have the best of intentions for me, I don't like there tactics.

On another note, Seriously.

Is there a lead company, in the world that doesn't pull some kind of bull?

They are all crooked in one way or another. And sifting through the silt is not an easy task.

Those that can, do.
Those that can't,
try to make a quick hustling off of someone that can.
Thats the way it is I guess.

I think I'd swamp 'em with requests for your company specificly. Give a testimony on what a great job you heard CCC Co did and see if they give you a call to do some of this work.

Then they'll bill you for the lead service and you will be pissed

You're absolutely correct to be pissed.

Customer see's your name calls the number and gets a listing service. Customer gets inundated with bids from contractors NOT named Crow Contracting.
At best you get nothing, at worst you get a bogus bill from these guys and a dissatisfied potential customer you'll never know about.

It's just shady, screw them.

I had trouble like this once. If you get no where with the company go after the hosting company who owns the web servers.

There is a Cease & Desist Letter that you can threaten them with. Basically it informs then that there is illegal contant on their server so they are then responsible for it.

After a couple months sh*tting around with the company, my name was removed in about 2 hours of the hosting company getting my email.

Just to Update,

My straight to the point e-mail, accomplished what I wanted it to do.

Sent this e-mail Saturday after finding out; (about the same time I started this thread)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Stacy,

I remember you calling, but we never did have a conversation at all. Now I see your listing my address, and my company name, with your phone number directing people searching for ME, to promote your business. ILLEGAL

Remove All My Info. Immediately, or Prepare for a lawsuit, your choice.

Regards,

When I got in today from working,

I had a new message,..

-------------------------------------------------------------------

James,

I am not exactly sure how that happened, but you have been removed from the site.

I appreciate the helpful comments made, and just thought I would let you all know how I handled the situation.

Right or Wrong? It got the job done.

Issue Resolved!

Its also nice to have someplace to vent everyonce in a while, with like minded folks.

I never did figure out their "angle", but who cares. Its just another blend of Snake Oil I'm sure.

I've heard Service Magic does the same thing. Then they call you and say we have leads for people asking for YOUR company. Its a scumbag maneuver.

I'm currently working on building a new better site, I let my old outdated site go, untill I get the new one up.

But I own several domains, thats why it takes you there - to my domains.

Makes sense?
