Stay Away From Everycontractor.com

These people are crooks. Five years ago I purchased a domain name from them but did not use it because we did not have a web site up a running yet. However, I knew I had the name. In February of this year they contacted me to renew for another 5 years for $200.00. Well, all know this is to much to register a name these days so I told them I wanted to transfer it away. I got some ridiculous story on why I couldn't do that. So, I paid them the $200.00 and told them to set it up for transfer. My web designer called to get the information to transfer the name and he got the run around for about 3 days including telling him that it would cost me $600.00 to get the name. He knew better so they finally gave in and said they would email him the information. Of course he never heard back so I started calling. I called for about 4 days and could not get anyone to take care of the problem. If they knew it was me I would be put on hold for an hour. I do some research on the name and find out that everycontractor.com had sold it in 2006. Not only did they sell something that did not belong to them but they actually called and had me renew it when they didn't even have the name registered for me. I have been going round in circles with them. I finally spoke to the VP of Operations and she had the nerve to say that it shouldn't be an issue because I hadn't used the name. After several days of trying to get her to call me back because she said she had to research the problem. We finally come to an agreement that they will refund my original $200.00 and the renewal $200.00. She was going to email me a release form. That was April 10th. I have called repeatedly but she will not take my calls. In the meantime I purchased my domain name on buydomains.com. I can't believe that these people are still in business. How the heck to you actually talk to someone with power and get them to produce what they say they will? Right now I'm so mad that I don't care what it costs me I'm going to go after them.

Re: Stay Away From Everycontractor.com

Moral of the story: Register your own domain name, in your name. Be responsible and don't expect a company to take care of this for you. Your domain is your lifeblood - you can hire another web design company but if you lose control of your domain name, you lose control of an essential part of your business.

I'd be mad too. Did you pay with a credit card? Have the cc reverse the charges. As long as you can prove they didn't provide a service to you the cc company will refund the $.

Get the owner or VP's home address an have an attorney send a letter to their home, they'll get the idea.

Godaddy.com for all future transactions. I have 7 domains with them for over 5 years and they are fantastic.

Susan, myself , and a few others preach that here all the time. Can't be said too often.
It's also why I became a Reseller.
