Guess who I'm dumping again. I thought that I might get some little 'filler' jobs to keep some guys busy in the off times. Not at these rates! Let me pay THEM a birddog when the contract is signed. HoHoHo!

I've used Service Magic for several years.
We only pay for the leads we accept. We get 2-3 a day, but take about 2-3 a week because some are out of our area and some do not fit our company.
Our closing rate is lower with SM leads, but our cost per lead is also a lot lower. All told, they are a good lead source for us, but then we are very picky about the leads we take.
I used ImproveNet previously, and had huge problems with them.

QualitySmith doesn't sell leads. It sells appointments. We talk to the customer, make sure he is actually ready to start the project, and then match his with a contractor in his area that is qualified in the field. Service Magic has little service and lots of hocus pocus; we actually work to make sure both customer and contractor get a service they need.

Is quality smith the same as service smith and the same as roof smith?
At the last company I was with, we used your service. Since I left and started up my company I haven't given roof smith a thought and here is why: Every 3 months you guys would change your pricing structure. It became confusing to remember what you were charging us. Heck, you are on your third name already.
It's obvious you guys are new, and that's great! The problem is you are experiencing growing pains. I'll probably look you guys up in a year or two when you stabilize.

Thanks
Thanks Grumpy.
Yes, QualitySmith and RoofSmith is the same. Actually, RoofSmith is one of the QualitySmith companies; there are several others (HVAC, siding, & windows, just to name a few) about to come on board. The name change from ServiceSmith to QualitySmith was to avoid confusing us with ServiceMagic. QualitySmith simply covers all of our specialty fields
I think if you'd try us out, you'll see we've shaken the bugs out.

O, and I should add....you don't see Service Magic bothering to read what you contractors are saying, or responding to what you want and need. QualitySmith certainly does!

I ran across a division/affiliate/subcontractor (not really sure) of Service Magic that does solely fire restorations. This particular guy is doing very well as Service Magic hands him all these jobs. He's had 5 years of solid work with no advertising/selling. I have no idea how he got into it, kind of tight-lipped about it (heck I would be too), but it is working for him.
