Re: Service Magic Yeah I Know

Just thought I'd say thanks for the info on service magic. I got to say I didn't know about the new laws about working w/o licence all I ever heard was the commercials for builders licence classes before the new law because of the tougher standards. It sounds from the posts the verdict is a even split on service master leads. As a fellow Michigander I feel for ya but if it were me I'd pay the vermin and chalk it up to a lesson learned. What else can you do? Fight it with lawyers that will suck your bankroll just as fast? Go pay the Government their fee's and get a licence and have some piece of mind.

I'm a stucco contractor and I'm signing up. Ten bucks a month is nothing!

Wow! Your first and only post and you're recommending a pay service? Sir, I thank you for not keeping this to yourself. You are a hero among men. What's that URL again? Could you please make it a hyperlink?

Thank you once again.

And it took him a year to make that first post.

I'm curious as to how you know so much about this new site. I googled it and the only relevant page is the one that asks for name & email to receive notifications of launch date, etc. No other details are available, yet you know all about this service and pricing.

As the owner (obvious) you might get a lot further here by being honest.

A quick whois lookup of constructzone.com provides the following:

Domain servers in listed order:

Looks like Duramax, who lives 'out west' has hisself a new website, even though he doesn't want anyone to know who he really is.

Mr. Mike:

I would be one of "the guys that stick up for Servicemagic", as I've had a very cost-effective business relationship with them. I am a licensed Michigan Residential Builder, #2101178549.

Re: Service Magic Yeah I Know

I do some sub-contracting for a guy when I need to fill in between my own stuff and he uses SM. Every job I've been on that he got from them is a pita and bs job. So far the only large job he looked at they sent to 9 other guys! I would never use them, but he keeps paying the fee. I think he pays $50 per lead.

SORRY GUY but hard to feel sorry for you.
You dont know michigan government, they pass crap like this and keep it quiet. The only reason I knew about it is I got my license a few months before the change.

The papers teh state sent me says anyone doing any work one someones property must have a license. That means all subs, unless they are the employee of someone licensed.

I agree but the state doesnt do much to make this stuff public knowledge. If you call someone at the state they dont have a f*#!ing clue about anything.

Re: Service Magic Yeah I Know

I have used SM for just under three years. Yes there has been some leads that I did not get any response to but that is the customers fault, not SM's. I understand that sometimes state licenses are tough to find but ripping apart a company for your own mistake is rediculous. Pay your dues and write it down as experience. You signed the papers!

Seems like the people who like SM are in big cities. Im afraid to try them with what Ive been told. I have yet to talk to someone who uses them that lives in a rural area.
