Service Magic Question

Hello Everyone, just signed up to the boards, really great site here

All the Hard Workers are Here!

I own a Painting Company here in New York City. I am looking to expand my company and looking for new customers and etc.

I have been hearing about Service Magic lately and Renovation Experts are a Good Source, but also heard bad views as well.

Has anyone experienced any Success with any of them?

Have a Great Day Everyone and Keep Rolling the $$$ and off too Hawaii for a Vacation )

Would love some great Feedback, Thank you Everyone!

ComicMan<----I am Comic Book Collector as well ...Anyone have any great Comics they are giving away?? Let me know!

Looking to hearing some feedback on Service Magic and Renovations Expert..

Re: Service Magic Question

Welcome to the forum:

You might want to search "Service Magic" and you will come up with a lot of old threads discussing the service they offer.

Now a little feedback from me on renovationexperts.com

I am paying $250 a month and have no sold a job. I call the leads as soon as I get them and either I do not contact the customer or they are 5-6 months out.

Welcome to the forum fellow Ny painter

I have done a lot of reading on these lead companies. It seems the work good for some and bad for others. I think you should try them and see if it works for you.

Re: Service Magic Question

Here are the numbers for last year...

RenovationExperts....15 leads, 7 sales for $57,070 (average sale $8,152.86)

Service Magic.....195 leads, 34 sales for $439,983 (average sale $12,940.68)

Renovation Experts is very new for us so I can't tell you much but so far so good

Service Magic..Our close ratio is only 17% but the low low lead cost makes it worth it for us. I have 5 salepeople that I need to provide leads for.

Re: Service Magic Question

With all due respect to marc, if you are a 1, 2, or 3 man show, I wouldn't waste your money on it. Now, as in marc's case, if you have a large company, and can afford a large ad budget, then it might just work for you. That seems to be the consensus around here at least.

Save your breath. Everyone here has asked the same question, ignored the advise from 90% of respondents and then posted their bad experience.

If you expect that you will not get any dead leads you will be very, very disapointed. Expect to set leads with only 50% of what they send you. Even if you only reach 50% it should still be one of the cheapest leads you will get.

Re: Service Magic Question

If you budget is truly $400, set your limit to less. They have ways of charging you more every month. I think they are bad news.

Re: Service Magic Question

reason I say Credit Company is because I have gotten scammed before with selling and people charging there cards for a chargeback, so pretty much tired of Scams ...But I have a good feeling that Service Magic will do the Job.

One of my friends who uses Service Magic...started last month.

Got 10 Leads and landed 3 jobs..so i guess it worked out pretty good.

Just making sure see what everyone elses experience with them were

Enjoy the weekend!

Re: Service Magic Question

$400 is way to high to start they will be sending leads every other day until they meet that $400 and 99% are going to be bogus....I had a real bad experience with them. Actually I think Service Magic are just plain crooks..Wait until they start charging you for duplicate leads...I had it were I only accept window leads that are 10 or more..They sent me a lead for a broken piece of glass twice, charge me $70.00. $35.00 a pop. Out of the 6 leads I received none of them even wanted to schedule an appointment some said there kid must of signed them up. Talked to my rep and told him about the broken glass lead that they charged me for twice and to them to take it off my bill. told them DO NOT CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD and canceled my account. I even sent them a certified letter stating not to charge my credit card,,,they did anyways...I chalked it up to a lesson learned...There nothing but crooks!!!!If I was you I would definitely not sign with them...Do a search on here and read!!!

Re: Service Magic Question

Bad news and Ms. Perez will call you non-stop for a year.

I never got a single closing from their leads. If your're a lowest bidder, go for it!

Re: Service Magic Question

hey guys just wanted to let you know! i hated service majic for a long time just like the rest of you got stiffed so did i, then the phone rings and like a dummy i signed again " anything for the leads!" anyways out of three leads this week 1 was a contractor just checking it out,2 was a broken window part no help there called s m and got credit for them both this time impressive " i kept the # of the sales manager when they called " just got a fence lead then the guy called me the next day after i tried to call him with no answer i thought another joke one but sold it nice 3' high white scallopped fence about 198' all total for $5940.00 not bad for $35.00 lead cost however i 'm still not convinced since this is the first one to even let me in there house or had a desire to do something. but like theses guys say keep your spending target low and time will tell. source for lead is great cause they really feed them to you but quality of lead sucks most the time if you can afford to play the #s game like the bigger companies go for it. if not hold on to your paints cause thet"ll be coming down soon! anyways i will keep you informed on my new #s and by the way the reason i signed back up was cause the guy told me they changed everything around there and they really qualify the potential customer better now but so fsr i don't know cause i still had the 2 junk leads but how would they know the one guy was a contractor? i'll blame that one on him "the snake" and the other one did want something done just not what i was looking for. a repair not a multiple install. we'll see. later vinylguy

Re: Service Magic Question

The nice thing agbout Service Magic is that you can "test the waters" for a minimal investment. You don't have to accept every lead they send you - so you can test them for a month or two and see how the results work for you specifically. if it's good, move from there. If not, drop them!

One piece of advice that can truly help. Realize that Service Magic is a lead provider - not a revenue provider. They're job is to sell leads. Given that, they will sell the lead to (up to) 5 contractors. If the first contractor waits a week before calling the lead, it's not Magic's Fault, or concern.

Given that... you have to make two things priority with these types of leads. First... contact them immediatly. Sure, you're going to have dead leads and tire kickers and people that don't match up - get over that. You dont make money from them. But the ones that potentially could do business with you - you want to make a first impression. A compayn I work with has a policy to contact the lead within 10 minutes of them receiving it.

The second piece of advice is to find a way to stand out. Obviously, most people understand this. I've noticed it to be even more critical with Service Magic type leads. If you have nothing to offer, or do nothign to differentiate your company... you allow the customers decision to based on #1 price... then #2 product/service.

Hope this helps!

Re: Service Magic Question

I signed up with Service Majic and have found the leads they give me have already contracted with companies by the time I call them. I have a small tree service and call the people the minute I get the lead. Since the do not offer lead replacement if the work has been contracted because it was available I feel they are cheating me. I am giving them I more week and then reporting them for fraud.

I joined three weeks ago and have been burned by getting leads after the customer contracted the work. They do not offer replacement leads for these. I call the customer within minutes of getting the referral. I think they are a rip off and am giving them one more week before I bring a suit against them!!
