Re: SERVICE MAGIC Now The Rest Of The Story

Mike, your spot on with your opinion and I agree with the opinion that a LGS will provide better returns for certain businesses.

In regards to testing the service, part of the test should be with specialty trades and handymen who do seem to do well with LGS's.
Next is what does this cost in marketing dollars, if I spend 3% for marketing that's $3000 for a $100,000 kitchen lets say, if it costs me 10% that means I give the lead gen company $10,000 for every $100,000 of work. This number works for me if its a kitchen reface, it doesn't work if its a kitchen remodel.

So far as qualifications or arbitration being part of the benefits of an LGS, I flat out don't believe that is happening.

Last, if the LGS service is a good marketing system then why haven't any of my friends told me?

Maybe the thing that bothered me the most when I signed up with an LG company was the time wasted qualifying and then trying to get credit. That one still comes up fresh in my mind.

The amount of leads will fall considerably is correct. The amount of good leads to bad leads will improve dramatically. I charge $1 for an estimate and you wouldn't believe the amount of tire kickers I weed out with that. Cheap people are just that - cheap. I don't want or need a customer that isn't willing to spend a very small proportion of the job to have me come out there and personally take care of their needs.

I think it would be a great idea, $5 is to much to pay to get a prescreen quality contractor. Balderdash.

Till then, be glad that you're able to get something valuable where so many others can't. But also you should try to understand that there is more going on than just the small world you are operating in with yourself and a small rural market place.

When 50 people say the same thing, they aren't in a conspiracy. They aren't making it up, and they aren't stupid and don't know how to make something work. Some of the smartest business people in the business are in this thread.

If DENVER and surrounding areas north are a small rural market I hate to see what you consider adaquate area coverage. I think that what I see, you are trying to run SM business for them. They seem to be doing good on their own. Do what you do best and leave their business to them to run as they see fit. If it don't work for you so be it, if it duz then even better. I don't think that anyone that has $50,000 to spend should rely on a name from deep dark sections of the internet. If you are smart enough to have that kind of money then you are also capable of making sure that you get your moneys worth without SM or any other lead service baby sitting for you.
