Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest

Well Shawn, the breaktime thread got closed, so we'll never know, but thanks for trying...

And I thought robyn was gone

email I received:

Your thread today about SM smacks of advertising and is out of place on our site. "Service Reps" don't (and shouldn't) come on Breaktime soliciting feedback from our community. You'll notice no tool
manufacter reps frequent BT for the purpose your friend has.

We'd appreciate it if you didn't make this kind of post in the future.

Thanks,
Robyn Aitken
BT Mod

I did write her back with an explanation, so we'll see...she's not on the forums at all....hey, you didn't complain about the thread...did you??!!

Wow, I cannot understand why you cannot answer the question in public, without knowing the account. Apparently you know there are issues in that directing with what your company is doing, so why is it not getting discussed openly. Do you have something to hide? Are you not honest with your customers? Why are problems only getting discussed on a one to one basis? These are questions that come to my mind when I read this.
Thank you

Joe, I am being honest and would like to help Handy get this resolved but need more info to go on. If a pro has XM *(Exact Match) active, we would advertise his company info online. I would need to look into his account to get the specifics as to what is happening. We have discussed this in previous threads on CT as well as other sites.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest

To all contractors considering using Service Magic for leads. Save your money!!! Do not give them access to your credit card or checking account! Utilize the funds elsewhere!

I gave SM a couple of months and a couple of grand for leads! We build custom room additions, sunrooms and a few garages. Out of about 20 leads, we met with 3 people which all 3 were only planning for next year! We spoke to about 14 out of the 20, and were only cussed and told to lose their number 5 times! One caller told my wife that he had 6 other calls that morning!

SM offered 4 free leads to show that they were willing to make things right! Same deal, no chance of a sale, no meetings, etc. SM sent 5 more leads on top of the 4 free ones! Then I receive an email stating that my payment source was not active! It appears that SM decided to send me additional leads without my permission and then try to debit my account $400.00

DO NOT USE THE SERVICE unless you have money to through away!

You have to decide for yourself, but as a struggling General Contractor in todays market, every dollar counts!

While I think it would be alright and acceptable to this within your own websites, I believe it is down right wrong to use anothers' company info to attract traffic to your websites. In effect you are tapping into your clients marketing budget that is supposed to drive traffic to his own website, and doing so without consent.

Your claims that it's done to help your client obtain more business is weak and transparent. We invest a great deal in making our names known and recognized and then SM hops on that little pony to drive traffic to its own website so you can sell the lead back to the contractor. As you stated, it has been discussed at length in other threads so SM knows that contractors disapprove the practice. And yet it continues.

Good Luck
Dave

Kevin, I don't know if you can tell but I had the same experience. I was with SM for a few years before making the discovery. It was an uphill battle to get the crap wiped. It pointed out to me just what I climbed into bed with.

Good Luck

Well yeah, that is exactly what I meant and the reason for Shawn to 'discuss' it in privacy. If he would discuss it openly here he would kill his company's Golden Goose. Only those who complain about this ripoff are getting dealt with, the others pay up.

In my opinion this thread is useless and only can be used for entertainment purposes. Nothing will change as long as the money flows in a steady stream into their pockets!

The only advise I have: Stay clear of those scam artists.
