Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
J, that's a great question. I know that not everyone is going to have the same amount of success with different marketing and advertising campaigns. I monitor all three of the mentioned sites and reach out to assist those willing to discuss their issues. I can't answer for everyone who has had a bad experience but we want your feedback whether it's good, bad or indifferent.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
That's why I'm pretty sure it would be an eye-opener for you and your company if you were to start a thread in the business section of each forum.
Hi, I'm here from SM and would like to hear about your experiences Unless you don't want to get a ton of feedback from real users, why wouldn't this be a good idea? I can guarantee that you would get a LOT of response on each site, so why not? |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
If you or your higher-ups aren't aware of how bad of a reputation you have in contracting circles, or if you really want to help some of these contractors it would be a great idea...

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
We have posted this in previous threads on this site and others and have received numerous responses, not only from previous SM customers but from current customers as well.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
So...you're unwilling to start your own thread in each forum and have a dialogue with actual users of your service? Why is that?
A lot different than popping into an existing thread where you might hear from a few users (if that). Don't want to hear an avalanche of information from real users of SM? Seems odd. You do know that you're just re-enforcing what a lot of your users/former users think about SM, don't you? |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
I didn't say that we wouldn't start a thread. We have an agreement with the mods on this site as we do with others and we are adhering to what we agreed on. We engage in dialogue with actual users on this site within the threads and behind the scenes with many who prefer to PM or direct email to keep it private. On this thread and on many previous threads, we do want to hear your feedback and can continue this dialogue.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
Not sure what you're saying...so the mods won't allow you to start your own thread to get feedback? Is that on this site and the other two sites?
Just want to be clear. Or do you not want to start your own thread on each site? So if someone else started the thread for you ( ) under the same title I suggested and posted that we looked forward to you answering any and all questions and comments, then you would be more than happy to "stand in"?I still think it would be beneficial if you started the thread, but if you're not allowed to then I understand. Is that the case? |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
And just to be fair, if you haven't done a search on each forum, you should, to see what kind of questions and comments you will be receiving.
There are hundreds of threads and thousands of posts regarding sm on the 3 forums...plus more on others. |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
I can't speak for this site, but I'm pretty sure you would be able to start a thread on the other 2 sites I mentioned. I'd be more than happy to find out for you.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
Great idea, JF-
But,..unfortunately for Shawn I don't think there's enough man-hours in the day to respond to all the emails I anticipate him receiving. I just went through all the various leads in the past couple months I've received and still haven't been able to get in touch with, and as many as there were---Damn...that could've been a hell of a nice weekend at the titty-bar with plenty of lapdances.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
Well, maybe for shawn's sake, a lot of former users of sm are no longer around due to the economy...
But I think it will help all around to have a thread or two devoted entirely to the dialogue...maybe I'll even give sm a whirl afterwards...ya never know. |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
what about when Sm sells the lead to us and 4 other lead generation services? the lead services are about quantity and not quality but heh who cares because they arent the ones explaining why there are 7 other contractors bidding on the bath remodel with a 200.00 budget.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
I guess the direct question to Shawn: Does SM sell the same leads to contractors and then to other lead companies?
...or both at the same time? |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
No, SM does not sell the leads to the contractors and to other sites. The homeowner from time to time will look for contractors on other sites, yellow pages, newspapers and many others. One of the reasons we advise calling immediately is so you can reach the homeowner before they look elsewhere. When the homeowner's project is matched to our pros, we send out the names and the links of the pros profile pages that are matched to their service request.

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
Hi Shawn--
I'll be honest here...My company has used Sm in the past, and still continue to do so, but under VERY STRICT SUPERVISION. My question, or "gripe" so to speak is this: While us contractors are signed up for sm services...and paying a good chunk of money for the leads we get...Why would service magic hijack a portion of the leads that should have gone directly to our company's website, but because we are linked with service magic---we have to basically purchase the leads from Sm that again should have gone directly to our website, thus being a more "exclusive" lead,--But again, because we are affiliated w/ Sm, you in certain cases literally hijack what should have come to us "organically" and then farm it out to several additional contractors? -And you say it isn't about the money. I'm sorry to say, but those ethics remind me of how many little guys get wiped out when Wallmart moves into town. What gives? |

Re: Service Magic Better Than The Rest
Thanks for the feedback Handy. I would need to take a look at your company name and what related keywords SM is bidding on. I also need more info on your account to see how I can help get this resolved. I have helped others in the past with what seems to be the same issue; again I would need to be able to look up your account. Feel free to contact me offline if you want.
