We now use a company that charges us a flat fee of 250.00 per year and we get all of the leads in a 100 miles radius of our business.

At first we were not sure about using this service however it turned out to be a good investment.

They actually market the products that we install. And IF we had to pay them on a pay per lead basis like Service Magic it would have cost us thousands. I am not into endorsing either however this company delivered what they promised for me. Talk to Mike or Robert good guys!
The company is suburbanfan dot com.
In such a shady industry they should not register their names by proxy, it just looks shady (IMHO).

Hi, i joined reliableremodeler.com 2 weeks ago. I bought 4 leads and sold one. And one is pending for the second week of august. i spoke to 3 of 4 leads. It works. Then again, its a game of numbers. so you gotta sell with passion!

Re: Service Magic....

I have had only unqualified crappy leads with service magic. The leads do not respond to phone calls or e-mails.
The customer service people do not do what they promise to do, and they act like company trained robots if you have a problem. I got 2 jobs out of 55 leads. 40 people did not respond to an e-mail or a very nice phone call massege i left. It is a waste of money. I know other handy men and contractors that say the same thing. I have documented proof of every thing i have stated.

Re: Service Magic....

Service magic has finally stopped calling me after 8 months and 3 different people. I talked to them 1 time 8 months ago and they have been leaving voice mails ever since.

Re: Service Magic....

We've used each and every lead service out there. Still in fact use several, besides doing our own direct mailings, marketing, home shows, etc.

Reliable remodeler has in fact worked for us as well. Sure, just like each and every lead service/ source out there you sometimes get the people that no matter what kind of polite message you leave on their voicemail or what kind of email you send just don't have the courtesy to respond. We do every thing besides send smok signals in our effort to try and reach these people, and again--some just never respond.

Have we landed jobs from Reliable Remodeler? Sure. Is my company the cheapest priced company out there? Heck no.

You definitly have to jump on these leads as soon as you get them. I actually have had several customers commend me on how quickly I get back to them. Some, I still even catch on the computer as if they just sent the request to RR. Are some tire kickers, just looking to shop price? Yes.

I personally find rather than jumping the gun, and forcing an estimate down their throat, a gentler/ kinder approach works best.

Find out the need=Offer a solution.

Just my 2 cents.

**and keep in mind,...alot of how it works for us is probably having a good relationship with your account rep. If you're thinking of using RR, I would reccommend going through Tim Giles~ He's been our account rep for some time, and is very good about issuing credits.

Re: Service Magic....

It's a lot of better places to get leads from:

truebluecontractors.com
contractors.com
angieslist.com

First one is particularily good in terms of customer service.

What do you think?

Re: Service Magic....

I also had a bad experience with Service Magic. Most leads were no return calls or e-mails. When you could get a consumer, they did not place an ad for service or they wanted a quick quote and were called by 10-20 contractors. They couldn't even keep the contractors straight - when you went to talk to them - they said - now who are you? When you did get lead and asked for a replacement - they billed your card and in order to get a replacement lead you had to leave your service turned on and then you would get billed for your monthly limit and quickly get another bogus lead. I can take you over to a customer who wanted a quote for a lot they didn't even own. The lead was as empty as the lot.
