I set up that way and didn't recieve one lead for 6 months. When you do that, you get only the laeds that no one else bought. Since most contractors are setup to automatically buy leads, you don't get any.

Re: Service Magic....

why don't ya'll focus more at getting more customers to YOUR website, and contacting you via phone/email
rather than paying servicemagic

ultimatetouch, if your PPC campaign isnt working, you may want to try different and fewer keywords

a PPC campaign is one tiny part of promoting your website

so many have websites just sitting there dormant

Do ya'll include your website on all the other forms of advertising you do?
Is it on your business card?

Search Engine Optimization.

It puts you closer, or at the top of the regular listings on the search engine.

Matt maybe Im expecting to much from the ppc. I had 106 ($300) clicks and only two estimate requests and I wasnt able to go on any estimates. I have it on my flyers and I am sending out two batches of 30,000 over the next two weeks. How many estimates might I go on from ppc. Give me your numbers Matt. I want to be going on at least 5-6 estimates a week.

Re: Service Magic....

I just wanted to say that I appreciate checkmateohio's attitude toward working the leads. Certainly there are tons of variables coming to working any lead, timing being the most important initial variable. The bottom line is there are lots of reasons to say "oh, this lead sucks, blah, blah, blah..." however, it all comes down to you, the way you approach the lead, and the amount of effort and follow up you put into it. Good on you checkmateohio! I happen to work for another lead service that only supplys privately funded new construction leads, and servicemagic is a competitor, but the point is that a lead is a lead, no glengarry glenross you know?

Re: Service Magic....

ServiceMagic was AWFUL for me.

I bought $400 worth of leads, and did not keep track.
Next thing I knew, I spent $800 and NOT EVEN 1 APPOINTMENT.
Seriously - what a let down.

A little off topic, but here's a lead I rec'd from RenExpro.com

Project Details: I am 11 years old.I need to know how much it would cost to build a large arcade building and small bathroom building that can hold 10 toilets,6 showers, and 8 sinks, for a project on how you would spend $1,000,000. THANKS

Re: Service Magic....

Service Magic is a rip off!!! They only gave me old leads, and when I tried to confront them, they ignored me unless I threatened to cancel, then they called within 5 minuates.

Re: Service Magic....

servic magic is a joke and they are more than just a service company. they are MANY sights. Even hotels.com You will get false leads. TONS of them. these leads will just be people that were trying to get a free IPOD nano.... If you need leads that are real and are better. look up preferred remodling service. com I get better leads there. I used service magic for a little. At first they were good but then it just gets out of controll.. e mail me if you nee more info ...

Ahidjou,
Please read the adverising rules for the site!

http://www.contractortalk.com/faq.ph...aq_advertising

You are skirting the edge when it comes to promoting the lead company you are talking about.

Re: Service Magic....

BOOOO S...magic....waste of time and money, no one there cares about us the contractor...they are a billion dollar company run by other billion dollar companies who are just in it for the buck...they put out sooooo many different versions of their website trying to pass them off as a completly diff company until you click on the "application" "receive an estimate" button.

I wouldn't recommend s.magic to my worst enemy

Re: Service Magic....

Promoting. NO.... talking good. yes. if memory serves me right someone had said that they just moved to a state and was looking for cheep/fast way (something to that effeect) they wanted to get started. I know lead services are about the cheepest way to find people looking for work. especially if they are being filtered or qualified... I look at this web site and read what people right. I work in an office now. It is rare that I have to (swing a hammer) I run all the advertising and marketing for our company. We keep a general rule. of 12.5% of our funds go to marketing. So we spend A LOT... i can name only a few affiliate marketing companies out there that are decent. ( when I say affiliate ) that means lead genorators/lead companies. Most guys dont have a clue with what they are doing nor are they internet savvy!!! most guys in our proffetion are highschool drop outs. I dont like saying that but look at stats.. on us. Most guys got into this because they got a girl pregnant or messed up along the line. Few are real business men. WTF... you cant run a business with a highschool education. Work SMARTER not harder. any way I could GO ON FOR HOURS!!!!!!!!!!! Contractors have a bad name over all. Like car sales men. managing money... most dont know how... Im sure that few can argue with what I have said. If any one wants help I'll help. I'd rather throw a few names out there and have someone tell me that Im on the verge of Advertising... what ever... its a chat room. I'll say this in closing MY WAY TO LONG POST... are market is driven by us. If you have guys who dont know what they are doing it hurts us all. driving down prices and messing up the economy one customer at a time. thats about all for now. any one wants to debate. Bring facts......... other wise... im glad to help who ever do things the right way and run a multi million doller business.
