Just do a search on the forums for 'reliableremodeler', or 'lead services', and you'll find a lot of threads about them.

I just cancelled reliable remodeler. Trash.

Just like you ehar me saying about many other lead services they grew into trash. They used to be good. iw as paying $150 a month for unlimited leads and getting a good quanityt and quality of leads. At some point contractor.com started buying leads from them so now leads are going out to 8 contractors. Not cool.

Anyways this has been discussed before. I wish you luck but the old lead service provider model is dead and I think that quality smith is pioneering the new business model of selling appointments not leads

Reliable remodeler was good a few years back but really went south last year imo. For some reason when you cancel your account with them they don't tell there billing department & they will keep charging you there monthly fee until you call and complain.

I had the same problem AHS.

The client I used them for rarely received any leads from them (specialty work)... but the $5 monthly fee was worth if it they got one good lead in a year to accept.

Unfortunatly... never got one. We bought some leads from them but was not able to quote a job (let alone sell) on any of them.

Hope this helps!

Thats the thing that really pisses me off about one of the lead serveces I am with now. Its a local company. The leads are few and far between and then setting the appointment is impossible. The only reason I keep it is because the guy returns the crap when i bitch. I am going to see what happens whent the season kicks in. I dont mind as bogus lead here and there when your making money but when everything is crap so far it doesnt look good.

Good training at a price. The annual conference is two days packed full of training worth it weight in gold. They hold some regional training that is free in order to entice people into joining the program. They also have an on-line training program where you can watch training videos. Check out the prices on their site for their cd's ----scary!

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

I did not sign up with lead companies because of everyones advice on this site. I figured what the hell and tried it them out they turned out to be the good source of leads. We have landed several large jobs in the past 2 weeks.

When they email you the $70 leads I email them back "let me know when you are lowering the price to $10" They have sold every lead to us for 10 so far.

Im still scared to use service magic everyone says bad things about them

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

I bought two leads from them, and both were bad. I called them and they gave me a refund, no questions asked. The next two I purchased got me two estimates. It's only been about two days since the customers got a price, but I'm pretty sure I'll get the jobs. They have had at least 25 to choose from so far(2wks), but so far,so good. I tried bidclerk.com and they were worthless. One thing that helps is I'm the only person in Louisville Ky that is getting leads from them! I saw something about $5.00 a month fee/ They charged me $30!?!

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

I cancelled Reliable Remodeler about three months ago, their leads had gotten almost as bad as ServiceMagic's. I am still trying to get money back from them (RR). I emailed a request to terminate my sunscription and the rep called and promised it would get better and credited me for some bad leads. The leads didn't get any better so again emailed a request to terminate service. I kept getting phone calls from the rep asking to explain what's going on. I already know what's going on, they are on the same downward path as ServiceMagic, so I didn't return the phone calls, bacause I know what the old song and dance will involve - more empty promises.

After three more emails requesting that the service be terminated, and several phone messages from the same rep asking me to reconsider and let him explain what's going on (and him basicaly ignoring my requests for termination each time), I faxed a request to their head office explaining the situation, along with copies of all emails. I finally got someone that cared, and he said that they were terminating the subscription. And since this took over two months since my original request, and they charged my account for those two more months I wanted that refunded too. The new guy said no problem, we will credit you for two months. Lo and behold, when I got my bank statement, they only credited me for one month. Emailed them again and we'll see what happens, but I am done with them for sure.

Then I got a phone message from someone totally different at RR "inviting" me back telling me that they had some new program with special deals and pricing and that they believe I would benefit greatly from it. Had they been up front with me and taken care of business right the first time, I truely might have considered it, but the way they ignored my requests and screwed me on the refund, NOT A CHANCE!

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

Reliable remodeler now charges me $10 per month, up from $0 per month which was down from $29 per month. I have not bought leads lately but for $10 its nice to know they are there if I need them.

Recently got a call from local homeowner about bathroom work, found out they contacted Reliable remodeler for estimate request (I saw it come by but didnt buy it)

Turned out the guy that came for estimate appeared needy for money, very low price on gutting bathroom, about $2200 for a job I have now received at $4800. I believe this customer would have used the contractor if he was more with it on professionalism, and proper pricing.

I told them to be aware of such a low cost and that it seemed almost impossible for anyone to do at such a low cost and still run a professional business.

WHY, do you guys feel you are not getting the jobs from these lead services after you have met and prepared an estimate for the homeowner.

As with the billing problems, Let your rep know in writing or verbally that you will dispute the charge with you credit card company if they do not make the credit immediately when they promise, this usually makes it happen faster.

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

The thing I like about Reliable Remodeler is they offer exclusive leads.
They send me a lead and NO OTHER contractor gets it.

I set a weekly spending limit.
If I spend x amount of dollars within a week, x amount of dollars is deducted from my credit card beginning of next week.

Re: ReliableRemodeler?

I find it kind of funny that retail customers actually think they are going to get an estimate in the email box. They just want a price from "4 qualified builders"

Some of the leads I have spoken to have been unsuspecting spouses who act or maybe they are stupid.

The key to good leads is to market your own website with a response page and phone number for the client to call you. Adwords is one way, but plastering your webpage on every communication should also help.

Get four leads...get four phone calls might be a better come on from these birds. I am considering building a sight that has a flat rate for people to place a link to thier sight. Then instead of getting five quotes they will get a lead from the participating builder in the area - a couple of roofers, window guys, etc. Kind of an informational web page with links to the guys in the trenches.
