Reed Construction Data?

Anyone ever use this one? It has a ton of large commercial and government jobs. I know someone who owns a small consulting company, and he swears by it. Just looking for more feedback. It's ~$200/month, depending on what you are searching. 1 state = $200, more states = more $. There's a lot of great info on there.

Re: Reed Construction Data?

They will let you sample it for a month no charge. The problem I had was alot of the companies I contacted about projects had no clue who Reed construction was and alot of the projects were private bids. I did get a small job off it durring the free period but Alot of the projects were way to large for me to bid.

Re: Reed Construction Data?

Bidclerk > Reed

Reed is primarily public work.... very little private.

Bidclerk has waaaaaaaay more private work than Reed and will typically have about 80% o the public work, and adds a TON more information about GCs and company contacts. A smart contractor will use that for mining new prospects and relationships.

Same problem I had looking at Reed and the AGC site. 100k SF projects, looks good, just not ready to take that on yet.

Bidclerk looks pretty sweet, definately a lot more private jobs, smaller & more managable, even homeowner stuff on there. I think I'll be signing up to check it out. I'd like to do really big jobs one day, did that on the design side. But since the leap to the building side, I just gotta take on smaller ones to get there.

Doug, I'll send ya an email. Nice car, btw.

Re: Reed Construction Data?

Our company was using their service a for about 6 months when all of the sudden they stopped uploading bids for the city from which we primarily do business with. When we asked them what happened, they said they couldn't guarantee that their service could have all of the information all the time! In addition, they told us that if in the future they did not have a bid we were interested in on their service we should contact them so that they could tell their internal department to go get that information . Mind you, we had to give them detailed information to make sure we got from them what we pay them to provide us. So tell me again, why am I paying them? Oh, and to top it all off they have no "cancellation clause", so once you sign you are stuck with them till the renewal date. Oh, and don't ask them for a copy of their contract if you have a dispute. They make a point to send you an illegible one and when you ask for a clearer copy they tell you they don't have any other one available. At this point, I had to throw my hands up and laugh! What scumbags!

Moral of this tale: NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE AND SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
