QualitySmith Problems

I have been using QualitySmith for a year or so now and all along the way they have had their problems but all and all they were better than most. The great thing about them is that they set the appointment for $75 for you and made sure you got to meet the customer or you didn't pay.

That being said I have chose to shut them off and not go back. I would not be surprised if they were out of business in less than a year. One of my biggest problems with them is that they had poor customer service for contractors (the ones that pay their wages) all along the way but since January of this year they seamed to be making some real headway to fix that problem. I felt it was do, in large part, to the head of the contractor division; he really seamed to have our best interest at heart. I met him at a trade show in Vegas and spoke to him many times on the phone. He really has a good head on his shoulders and was a straight shooter. I can not say the same for the other person I met there. She danced around every question I had and spoke down to me as if I was a high schooler even though I have been doing this for 20 years and make double what she makes a year I bet!!

All year they have been making steady improvement and even recently went to account managers (in their kennewick washington branch) which was great because I spoke to the same person every time. BUT just yesterday I called and found out that they have shut down their Orem Utah branch, Kennewick Washington branch (OUR account managers), fired the head of the contractor division and the head of the consumer division and have shoved everything over to the Walla Walla CSR's that have been taking care of the home owners the whole time. These are the same people that could never do anything for me before and are the same people that could do nothing for me yesterday.

A company who is shutting down this much of their business and scaling back on the most important part of their business (US the contractors) will not make it more than 6 months. I will be willing to bet my next job on it that the quality of their leads will go down the tube and that they will care less and less about us.

This is why I chose to save myself the pain of learning the hard way (loosing money) and I hope you will do the same. Shut them off now if you have any smarts. It is like getting out of a bad stock before it crashes.

Good luck QualitySmith; I really hope you can turn it around!

Re: QualitySmith Problems

I havent gotten a lead from them in a couple weeks now. I was thinking of giving them a call on monday.

Seems like they are just getting back to their roots. They probably grew too quick and couldn't support the added overhead. I've been with them for a few years and remember when they only had one phone number to call. I rpeferred it that way because it seems like when ever I call them I call the wrong number.

Personally I don't care where I call, as long as I get good quality leads. I also don't care about their internal strie so long as it does not affect me.

Re: QualitySmith Problems

Now that I think of it, we haven't recieved any leads from them in the last couple of weeks either. I've never had a problem with them or their leads. Probably were my best internet leads. Then again, I don't have any issues with ServiceMagic either so my opinion probably doesn't mean much to most of you.

We have never used QS, but have heard good things about them. How do they stack up relative to SM?

Re: QualitySmith Problems

The leads are pretty good and the customers are more willing to put good quality products and work into their homes vs. leads from other lead sources that just want a sloppy paint job. I have never had a problem with their contractor services and feel like I talk to the same people in Walla Walla everytime. The phone numbers are a little confusing sometimes and I am not sure who my account manager is, but they are always accomodating

Re: QualitySmith Problems

I have used Quality smith on and off for about 6 years. The direction the company has taken this past year has ruined the experience. They went from the best to the worst primarily since august of 2009. I have stopped referring them to friends in the trades and would suggest that you don't waste your time. And they will waste plenty or yours and your staffs time when the referral they are charging you for does not respond and the refund system does not work and you sit on hold for an hour between 4 different lines because the previous messages you or your staff have left regarding the problem are not returned. I'm done. Like I said save your self some time/ money/ headaches.

Re: QualitySmith Problems

I have to say that they were one of the better online lead generators for a while. Although they didn;t generate an ABUNDANCE of leads, they would, or DID initially start out setting the appointments for the contractor.

We were notified via email earlier in the year that they were converting over to a "new program",....meaning that they realized that they could make more selling just the name and the phone number to multiple contractors, being the lead good or not.

We initially chose to end our relationship at that point, but recently activated them to see if they had any leads of quality/ substance, and since doing so have recieved 5-6 leads, with 4-5 of them being totally bogus. Well, I can't say bogus, but being that my company is in New England, they sent us leads in Washington, and another state way down South.

As soon as I find the lead to be junk, I call their office to get credit---and I have to say, although I am not impressed with the quality of the leads, Tammy Carter has been a pleasure to speak with and has credited me for each lead I requested credit for.

I'm going to give it a little more time to see what comes of it, and will keep you all posted.

Re: QualitySmith Problems

That's exactly how it's done.

Hence why I was mildy "perplexed" when getting leads from the West coast.

Re: QualitySmith Problems

All I know is that I received a lead that was facilitated through the QualitySmith site but was delivered through the ServiceMagic system.

That does not mean it was bought by SM, they could be leasing SM's lead distribution system, or they could be an affiliate and selling them leads they didn't have their own buyers for....

Re: QualitySmith Problems

If correct, I find that realization even scarier. Lead companies "sharing" lead info is hardly a confidence builder.

The way it typically works is if a lead company gets a lead in and they don't have any contractors for that project, they resell it wholesale to another lead company who does.

They don't (or at least shouldn't) sell it to their own contractors AND to another lead gen company.

Re: QualitySmith Problems

We used them for a long time, while they were setting confirmed leads... About 6 months ago - We got notice that they were no longer setting leads, but instead only providing names & numbers much like service magic and around the same pricing as SM as well.. I tried it for 2 weeks that way, and no name / number provided to me turned out to be anything... I cancelled my service with them, and told them if they ever go back to doing confirmed appt's i'd be glad to return... It was worth the extra $ to actually get a chance to sit with a customer.
