Thanks all for the heads up... I've never done advertising but am about to start. I've always had the opinion that if you want a lead go get it your self but I'm opposed to more traffic.

I run a small lead generation company that competes with Service Magic in some contractor categories (dumpsters, demolition, and roofing, currently). Overall, they seem like a decent company... though definitely more consumer friendly than contractor friendly. The biggest drawback to Service Magic is that each lead is sent out to at least 3 other contractors (sometimes many more, so we've heard).
In response, we decided to focus on generating exclusive leads from the internet for our contractors. We make less because we aren't charging 4 contractors for the same lead, but our contractors book jobs at a higher rate and tend to stick with us as a result.

Warning,stay far away from service magic,they trick home owners into giving them there phone # then sell them to trades people like all of us,then when we call the home owners they were surprised that we were calling,we rec ivied leads for new facuts and were billed for home remodels,its a huge scam,we racked up a huge bill and didn't do an ounce of work,i know times are slow,but SM is not the answer.I have a few other friends in other trades and the same thing happend to them,i have reported them to the state.So for the SM rep that is reading this,you are a no good prick just like your scam.

Our experience with SM has been good.
Last month we got 5 leads, and got 3 jobs We closed 60% of our leads. That is not bad.

A total waste of money.
never give them your phone number, unless you want one of their salesman to call you 50 times per day asking if you want to upgrade your service. you will NOT get a lead from them that is legit. EVER! It will be a dead end, or 25 other contractors will be biding on it. 95% of the time, the lead will NOT be in your trade, yet they will still charge you. If service magic was required to have a professional license, it would have been revoked in every state, horrible horrible company |
