Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

I dont how many of you use leads services. Normally I do not need this type of service however I signed up for it as I just moved back to Illinois from Florida and needed to get a start. I gave leads.com $300 up front for what I was told would be 10 quality leads but what I have got is a bunch of CRAP! I feel like I have been totally taken to the cleaners! I found them on Bob Villas website which led me to belive that I could trust the company but insted now know that I have been scammed.

To lay a little proof to what I say I have taken to date 8 leads out of my 11 and had to have 5 of them given back to me as the leads never answer there phone! I have gotten bitched out by 2 of them, went on 2 leads which one was in a ghetto and the other was not there after a 1 hour drive to their home!!! The topper to this is that one lead was a friend of mine from HS (20 years ago) and when I called the number just rang and rang. This was to be a kitchen remodel so I drove the 25 minutes to what was supposed to be her home only to find that the house was vacant and there was a for sale sign in the lawn! Today I called the number one more time after bitching out Leads.com and they answered the phone and said that she never asked for a person to do anything to their kitchen!!!!

DO NOT SIGN UP OR GIVE ONE RED CENT TO RENOVATION EXPERTS!!! LEADS.COM IS RENOVATION EXPERTS AND SO IS WEB.COM!!!!

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

I second your post - Bob Vila, Leads.com & Renovation Experts is a scam. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE - they will waste your time sending bogus leads time & time again. They know they are bad leads - they forces YOU the customer to call tham back everytime to tell them the lead was bad.

FELLOW CONTRACTORS = DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE - CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT NOW!

DO NOT SIGN UP OR GIVE ONE RED CENT TO RENOVATION EXPERTS!!! LEADS.COM IS RENOVATION EXPERTS AND SO IS WEB.COM!!!!

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

They promised me 10 leads per month for 299. Thought that sounded pretty good considering I am use to getting screwed by service magic. At least I can save on the Novocain in the Vaseline I needed for service magic. What they didn't tell me about the leads is I had to be sitting in front of my computer for 24 hours per day to get them, or that they were not going to be for services I offer or not in my service area. The first month I got 9 leads. Even though I got those leads I was only able to get in touch with 2. Which I didn't get because I actually charge a fee for my work. I tried to cancel the service after the first month they told me I couldn't because I signed up for three months. Funny I didn't sign anything. I called my bank to make sure they couldn't charge me another 299. I swear while I was on the line trying to cancel the service they must have had someone on the other line charging me another month. I actually had to cancel the credit card to get rid of them. The next month I got 5 lead out of the promised 10 with no results. When they tried to charge my card the third month they harassed me for non payment even after 3 or 4 emails and phone calls canceling my account. Just like service magic they are thieves.

As I know there are always new contractors signing up here who want to throw their two cents in (I am one of the newbies myself) I truly wish Nathan would put a disclaimer on the sign up page to do a search on threads BEFORE you start a redundant one. Either that or just a disclaimer that says

"IF you are joining contractortalk.com to bitch about lead services, save yours and our time. Every contractor worth their salt on this website will agree that leads services are crooks and they will trick you into spending big money. We are sorry to hear that you have been duped"

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

They are a scam worst interaction I ever had with a publicly traded company in my life , I am 40m yrs old. They put charges on my credit card without service straight out fraud, they are in Canada makes it hard to get my $150.00 back. I complained to regional manager constantly ,he threaten to call police because I was harassing him, like the Chicago cops would tell re pay the man what you owe them and be done with it, or tune up there cunuck ass up right then/there. Dont use they dont refund money ever. Only use lead company that refund no questions asked. The fuss this company made to hang onto $150.00 wrongfully charged to me is shocking and clearly cost them more in time and effort. The worst part is they are a public traded company wwww with no regard for there reputation or customers . Dont invest wwww they are a unethical company.

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

In response to an article by another contractor about RenovationsExperts, I have found that they have been very helpful and very polite everytime that I have called with a problem about a lead! Yes from time to time you are going to get people that are what you call tire kickers and don't want to do anything and you may find people just playing games but as far as the performance of RenovationsExperts, I think they are doing the best job they can with the way the economy is today! When I call with a problem, there is one woman I always talk to and she is always very polite and helpfull! If they were not, I would drop them like I did Service Magic but I think they are completely different! So if you are going to throw stones, stand back, look at yourself and ask yourself- Am I doing all I can do to work with them?

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

In my opinion guys who need to go and pay someone to send you leads should get off your arse and use that money to market yourself. The time you waste sitting around in front of a computer you could be out networking.
I going to stop before I fall off my soap box.

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

There seems to be a proliferation of semi-legit companies that take your money without any intention of giving much of anything in return. I've known several that have been around for many years and still have not been shut down ( I got scammed by Net Detective, and they have a bunch of other companies under different names that sell the same thing)

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

The one thing i don't get about certain complaints like this is when people say things like "I got one lead in the ghetto" or "I got a lead an hour away."

Can't you select the zip codes you want to get leads from? If so, can't you remove the areas you deem to be too ghetto for your work? Why wait until you get the lead and then complain about the location when you are the one who set your service area? If you know some areas are not for you, spend some extra time setting up your account to remove those zip codes. But i think many people are too lazy (not talking to the original poster, just a general statement) to spend time doing that, so they just pick all the zip codes within 20 miles or whatever, and then complain later when they get leads in areas they don't like.

I'm not familiar with exactly what RenEx does, but all the lead services i know of let you pick the zip codes you want. And if they send you a lead that is not in your selected service area i would imagine it's not too hard to ask them for a credit for it....

Re: Leads.com - Aka: Renovation Experts

i've been ripped off by TINA DUNNE of renovation experts, leads.com & web.com. they sent me bogus leads and charged me for them. they don't give you your money back, that's the scam. they give you credit after they take your money. they then send another bogus lead hoping your an idiot and except it. i found out about ripoffreports.com and so far i got "tina dunne renovation experts" on the first page of google.
i suggest to any and everyone who's been duped by this internet scam to file a report w/ ripoffreports.com in everywhich way that you can phrase it. it's free!

DO NOT SIGN UP OR GIVE ONE RED CENT TO RENOVATION EXPERTS!!! LEADS.COM IS RENOVATION EXPERTS AND SO IS WEB.COM!!!!
AFTER MANY ATTEMPT TO JOIN AND ACCEPT THEIR LEADS, FROM RENOVATION EXPERT CUSTOMER SERVICES, THEY OFFER ME TO PAY BY LEAD ONLY NOT A $99.00 MONTHLY FEE. THE BIG SCAM IS THEY CHARGE MY CARD $99.00 MONTHLY FEE AND THEY WILL REFUND MY MONEY.
REQUEST A COPY OF SIGNED CONTRACT WITH THEM, THERE IS NON ALL WAS VERBAL. i KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE CONVERSATION WAS ABOUT IS TO PAY BY THE ACCEPTING THE LEAD.
I MENTIONED TO THEM WHAT LEADS I WILL ACCEPT AND THEY SEND ME DIFFERENT LEADS, WHICH I CAN NOT TAKE.

THIS KIND OF SCAM SHOULD BE STOPPED.
IMAGINE 100 SCAM LIKE THIS PER DAY AT $99.00 FROM EACH CONTRACTOR.

I would venture to guess that they either don't know any better or that they're PO'd
