Has anybody had experience with Every Contractor yet?
I know mixing lead services and CT users generally erupts into bashing them more than discussing them, and that's all right by me if they deserve it. Some really are just scams to weasel us out of our hard earned money. But I would feel foolish if a let an opportunity pass me by with how slow things have been lately.
Got a call this morning from a guy in Nevada wanting to know if I do additions in Missouri. Figured it was a lead service, and it is, of a sorts. Just wandering if anybody else has heard of these guys. He was advertising $500.00 a year for his service. I told him I wasn't spending money right now on unknown services, but would keep him in mind.
He then gave me a "free" customer and name a number that is local to me to check that he was on the up and up. I'm gonna follow through and I told him that if this is a real customer that is willing to real work then I would gladly consider his offer.
Just curious if any of you guys have tried this service before.

As in many of the bashing sessions we have had on here I freely offer my numbers so far with EC. I joined up with them in October 2008 following the exact same offer they gave you.
"Here's a customer we can't get anyone out to. Give em a call and get the job."
I held out on joining them until I saw where the lead was going. I finally paid them $299.00 for a year after they dropped the numbers from $999.00 a year.
Since this I have recieved 27 unverified leads that have produced exactly $0 in revenue and cost me over $2000 in fuel and time running them down.
My biggest problem with them at this point is the times that I recieve their leads. I will get calls at 3 a.m. sometimes, not a good thing for the phone to ring at 3 a.m when it's not an emergency.
Just my rant but I wouldn't buy into it if they tell you they have no contractors in your area.

Thanks for moving the post. The detail in the thread "everycontractor = bad eggs" is the type of stuff I was wondering about and why I appreciate this sight so much. There really is a wealth of info out there when you want to look for it and there are plenty of people willing to share just because somebody asked.
Golester, I am sorry to hear that a contractor got hooked and pulled in, but do appreciate the post and warning given. I wish you luck in resolving the issues you have with them and their people.

The "free" lead actually did answer the phone and I've set an appointment for next week. Let's see where this goes. I will definitely keep everybody posted.

I would suggest making sure the ink dries on the contract if your "free customer" signs a contract before you give the lead company any money. I've had some shady newspapers create make pretend clients when my ads came up for renewal.

A quick update.
I set an appointment for next week with my "free" lead and had no more than set the phone down and guess what, Everycontractor starts calling me back less than twenty minutes after I got off the phone with the "free " lead. Getting fishier all the time. I just let the phone go to my machine rather than answer it and get a sales pitch.
Again the info shared here has really got me primed to watch out for these guys. Thanks Guys. I will update next week when I supposedly meet the "free" lead.

I got a call from Contractor.com... but have yet to respond... I am not having a lot of success with Service Magic... it seems that the lead is also sold to 5 or 6 other firms and a lot of "prospects" are just getting plans or estimates for a project that is planned for the future... I have had some but not a great deal of success with Renovation Experts... but they too charge my company for non qualified leads... Thanks to all who Respond... Louff

Contractor leads
I looked very strongly at Every Contractor and called on every reference they gave me, and then searched and randomly called anyone connected with them. Every single person without exception had only negative comments about their system. The way they charge for their leads is outrageous.
There are several of these companies out there, a couple work... most don't. I have found the key to be how long they have been doing it.
