ExactMatch From ServiceMagic - Anybody Use?

*With all due respect, I would appreciate if the anti-SM crowd, and the neighborhood SM rep, would not hijack this thread. I have an honest question and desire a serious answer. If nobody can give a serious answer, then let this thread fall off the front page please.*

Service Magic works for me. I close about 50% of my leads, and my income is supplemented rather well by using their services.

Getting clients to give me a review has not been difficult either, for the most part. And now that I have those reviews, I qualify for the ExactMatch service, which puts me in their directory, in Google ads, with a toll free number (to SM) which will put the prospect directly in contact with me.

Instead of $30 per lead, this would cost $45.

So my question to those who also have had success using ServiceMagic is this: Are you signed up, or have you in the past, used the ExactMatch Service? Did it work for you? Explain.

I am considering this option, and any constructive input would be greatly appreciated.

- Bob

Bob-
I can respect the above statement. Just a bit of "inside info", I wouldn't expect alot of leads through the Exact Match program. Remember, the only way a lead will be generated through that channel is if the homeowner finds your profile on the internet, clicks it open, and either calls the 866# OR submits a service request there from within your profile page.

As a side note, I too am interested in how it's working for other contractors.

Re: ExactMatch From ServiceMagic - Anybody Use?

I had mine turned off, had just as many bogus/dead leads with the exact match, only it cost me more for them...

Only ever had one exact Match lead that I actually got a project from, rest were useless.

Maybe someone else has better luck with them, but not me. I also ran into the problem where they would fill out a general request, and then an Exact Match one too, so I had to pay twice for the same lead.

I am still teetering on the fence on whether or not to drop ServiceMagic all together...

nobs chimed in their aweful quick didn't he. he is actually doing nothing more than trying to promote SM here on this site. you see he won't reply on the other thread where we all were trying to get a straight forward answer from him and could not. he just wants to tells us how dumb we are for not reading the agreement all the way thru. wheres nathan is nobs aloud to promote his site here? we wouldn't mind if straight answers came from him. by the way answer to your ? they are in my opinion the same bogus leads as you get when your not exact match just a way to cost you more money. at least thats the way it works for me. if i had the $$$$$$ to play the #s game i suppose that i wouldn't care for exact match

im not sure about the exactmatch. I had a customer tried to call the 866 number and went through the process, then the rep told him the my company currently isn't accepting any business. then he went to contact me directly instead. and the last time i had an exactmatch was at least 6 months ago. so im not sure why it didn't go through.

I have better luck with the exact match than the regular leads "market leads". However the lead volume is extremely LOW. Actually I like the exact match because the customer is choosing you to bid the project and like I said I have done better with it.

Thank you everyone.

Grumpy, your experience is in harmony with the comment NoBS made about the service.

I guess I'll sign up then, since it seems that I'll rarely get an Exact Match lead, but when I do I'll likely have a sale. I already close one out of every two Market Match leads I receive.

Thanks for the input!

I was considering signing up with SM but .....

If they were able to offer me with quality leads, they would have no problem leting me chosing wich leads I want to pursue, and pay them the commition after I get the contract.

Re: ExactMatch From ServiceMagic - Anybody Use?

Our company gets about 3 exact matches a month.

I find that customers are still getting leads from SM the regular way. When the customer calls and I do a followup after the estimate lead, they tell me other contractors have contacted them and they got estimates. What is the exact match for? Hmmm. I'll have to contact them and find out. It may be another way for SM to get more money for leads.

But, it is working for us. Half of our business comes from this and the PennySaver. Phone book does not work, everyone is on-line except for the cheap people who cannot afford a computer.
