Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

Just an FYI - - - - -

Got a call from a lady looking for help with a "couple projects" she "needs done" The caller ID gave an 888 number, so I let the answering machine pick it up. She made it sound like she is calling from work, needs some work done at her home (not specific) but it's OK to call her at work. Gave the phone number (888) 326-0653 and her extension of 4700.

Got my curiosity up as no good can usually come from an 800 number on caller ID so checked and it belongs to everycontractor.com. They are stooping to a new low now trying to bait contractors to get them to call back so they can promise them teh world and get them signed up.

Caller ID: 1-888-326-0653
Caller: Everycontractor.com
Caller Type: Telemarketer

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

service magic keeps calling me every day,i rather sit home than deal with this nonsense of bidding on a job thats been bid on 10 times, by the time you give the price your lucky if its not gonna cost you.

watch out, the next call from everycontractor, there gonna tell you they will give you 45k in leads for 5k up front now. and when you refuse they,ll drop it to 2500 and so on

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

Gotta tell you, I'm with SM, but I am in a little town and it works pretty good for me. But I only get about 3-5 a month. As far as the jobs being bid already, I just got one this evening and I called immediately and the customer was still on the phone with them! First one in usually gets the job I have noticed...jmo

SK Builders you are the first person I've ever heard say something nice about service Magic! that's nice to know that their not screwing everybody over! If I'm not mistaken they are the biggest of the "Lead" generating companies, yet all I see is unhappy customers, theirs even a dude on Youtube "exposing" Servicemagic as frauds cause he got screwed over (he felt he did anyway).

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

Alsunrunner,
I got a call from Larry from Everycontractor.com and he promisses me $100.000 worth of work already signed in house with his company for a mear fee of $6,500. $1,500 up front and $5,000 balance after I get work signed but he needs it to be an automatic withdrawal from my checking or my credit card. I been talking for 2 weeks now and Larry calls me 3 to 4 times a day. What is the rush I am very weary especially that come from Las Vegas. Anyone have feedback with this company or Larry.
THANKS
Al

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

alsunrunner,
I belong to Servicemagic.com now for 6 years in the past my company had a great run with them I was also selected as there contractor of the month of April 2008. I find now that the leads are not as good about 50% of them are N/G wrong info or home owners just window shopping. The remaining leads are good but the it seems to be saturated with contractors and the home owners are turned off, some how it seems like 6,7,8, contractors are calling it supposed to be only 3 to 4 contractors. Tell me is it possible that a contractor is re-selling the leads if so he is ruining it for every one. I am a little furstrated with the credit department I pay now, and wait for an approval 10 days later and I receive about 80% of my credit request.
THANKS
Al

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

They called me three times, twice with basically the same script.

Quote:
Hello this is Shelly I have a client of mine that needs a 512 square foot living room addition in Howell, Please call me at 888 326 0653 extension 4514
Another time it was an 800 square foot master bedroom addition, Another was a finished basement. I just sit back in my recliner and listen as they leave a message. reach over when they are done and hit delete.

And the number is quite popular on the interwebs

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...earch&aq=f&oq=

And here they are posing as a public works vendor to download public bid documents to resell as a lead

Show up for pre bid meeting? No
want to fax them some ****?
they listed their fax as 888-440-0598

Apparently they are still around. Caller ID now shows TSF Enterprises at 702-483-4357.

Do yourself a favor and avoid like the plague.

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

Fire Mike, I work for everycontractor and as I do agree with you that the girl should not have made it sound as if the work was directly for her, but sometimes it is really hard to get the owner of the company on the phone and we do try all ways. Lying is not one of them I assure you. Maybe you misunderstood what she was trying to say.

Wow... one in the flesh... I have know I have personally cost you guys over $10,000 in business from emailing potential clients of yours as well as posting on craigslist about how you guys scam and lie. All you had to do was get me my promised 10 leads in a year or give me my $500 back when you failed... However you did not hold up your end of the bargain so I will continue to spread the truth about your company.

So CorsoChic,
You are an "Account manager" for everycontractor.com?
Your company is very misleading when they call.

I have asked time, and time again for you guys to STOP CALLING ME!
My company info is in my signature, there you can get my phone number, and tell all those misleading ex phone sex operators on your payroll to STOP CALLING ME!

Holding the title of "account manager" I am sure you must have the power to do this.
If your people continue to waste my time by calling me every other day, I will continue to waste theirs.

See: http://www.contractortalk.com/f11/ev...tractor-65885/

Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Everycontractor.com Phone Scam

Just the other day after I listed myself on GoogleMaps. The next day, I received a call from "Isaac" posing as a customer. When I called back the number the first question he asked was "Where do you work out of ?", I immediately suspected it was a referral service posing as a customer. Sure enough he was from everycontractor, and preceded with his sales pitch. I cut him off and told him what I read in this forum about his company and ServicMagic too. Told them they needed to rebuild their reputation from scratch. Sigh, I hope they don't pester me like SM.

Actually we promise 12 leads or your money back, And you probably were the one who dropped the ball on that one. You have to check your control panel and pic up your leads.
You Have to do your part too, we can't call the clients for you and we cant log in to your account for you. Just pic up your leads and do your part. I can tell you that everyone I have signed up personally is very happy and when they are not they call me and I fix the problem.

No one can please everyone, but I can tell you that we have 1% of unhappy contractors, so that does say something about our "reputation". Unfortunately, the happy people don't go on the internet to post it. (because they are to busy working)

ServiceMagic, MarketHardware and their CEO have been sued in Federal Court.

That says something.
