Contractors.com

Okay, I know that I'm not the only one who watched the 20 min video. What do you guys think? ...To me it sounds like a decent program that addresses most of the complaints we have with lead services. The thing that freaks me out though is the $5k security deposit. I dealt with them years ago so I know they are legit, however that stipulation just doesn' t quite sit right.

Re: Contractors.com

If it doesn't feel good in your gut reaction, listen to it.

I would.

There will be a service eventually that will take the gusto out of those others that charge too much and have way too many complaints about their tactics.

Plus, they advertise no fees for leads, but how much of a fee for the job.

But, to their credit, at least it is for a sold job, but don't you think that they will be tempted to make sure that one of their signed contractors gets the job, no matter how many get the lead, even through an affiliate site?

That Lead Generating Model is designed to eventualy promise to create a widespread Reverse Auction.

Same old story with a different packaging.

Re: Contractors.com

I followed the banner and watched the video and toward the end of it they start explaining the FEES!!!! So their so-called "FREE" leads program costs $100.00/trade/area annually so let's do the math on that...

If I do painting and decks, and take 10 zip codes I pay $100.00 per zip code per product. I pay $2000.00 a year!! Then on top of all of that, there is a security deposit of $5000.00!

What I'm seeing here just to get started with this service for what i do would cost me $7000.00.

No thanks, I'd rather pay per lead

Re: Contractors.com

Its a lot cheaper to get the leads on your own then to deal with these guys.

Thumbs down

Re: Contractors.com

How would you like to get that kind of money up front. Imagine getting 500 contractors to sign up and get an average of 5K from each for zip code territories = 2.5 million dollars in the bank. Not counting this thing called a retainer. Well that's another 2.5 million dollars in the bank. Interest alone will run your company and anything you get additional from the contractors is gravy on top of you potatoes.
Mean while your out running around chasing home owners around giving out FREE?? estimates.

Theses services are a joke. First off google hates them they like local companies and will put you before them.

It is way cheaper and more effective to make your own site and spend money on adwords. I don't see why people even consider using them.

Directory Listing

The annual cost of a company listing is $100 for each Trade/Territory you appear in. Territories are pre-defined areas consisting of approximately 100,000 households.
Example:
A company listing in the trade categories Siding and Windows in 3 territories (approx. 300,000 households) result in an annual fee of $600. (2 trades) X (3 territories) = $600.

Each Trade entitles you to select as many of the ‘Job Types’ you service within that Trade category.
Example:
Trade: Windows
Job Types available: (Wood windows – Install), (Wood windows – Repair), (Vinyl windows – Install),( Vinyl windows – Repair), (Aluminum windows – Install), (Aluminum windows – Repair), (Steel windows – Install), (Steel windows – Repair), (Glass block)

Free Leads Program

If you qualify for this program then Contractors.com guarantees your work with the homeowner and provides you with free leads. When you complete the work, you pay us 7.5% of the first $10,000 (max fee = $750). This program is limited to just three companies in each Territory (in some cases waiting lists are available). Each participating contractor gets all the leads we generate in their selected Trades and Territories.
There are no additional costs (other than Directory Listing fees) to participate, but because Contractors.com guarantees the work performed by the contractors in this program (up to $50,000), only a small percentage of companies are accepted. Requirements include: in business for the past 5 years, excellent history of job performance and superior customer references, appropriate licensing and insurance coverages. Registrants are required to deposit either $2,500 and $5,000 (depending on selected Trades) against claims and unpaid job fees.

That's the program.
Who's in??

Looks like the same mathematicians that dreamed up the credit default swaps had a hand in the guidelines for this lead service ......

Re: Contractors.com

Well you can all call me the group sucker, because I signed up for the service.

I've spent more on less promising sources and campaigns and wished I hadnt.

I'll post monthly details when the program launches in July.
